Auto Detailer in Columbus

Hello all--

I recently bought an '07 MCS (AB/W, heavily optioned.) Unfortunately, the previous owner smoked in the car--which he didn't disclose to me. Despite my efforts so far, the interior still has a faint stale tobacco smell. I've tried the usual remedies--febreeze/glass cleaner, baking powder, leaving vinegar in the car overnight with only short-term improvement.

Are there any trusted auto detailers who can steam clean an interior safely here in Columbus?

Also, if anyone is interested in a well-specced '04 MCS (DS/DS), I'm taking offers!

Thanks in advance.

vin.

That is Ted & he's who I'm thinking about here. I'm not comfortable putting his phone number on line, so if anyone needs it pm me.

Watch out for mushrooming I hear they grow in road apples when it's warm and road apples can cause ST mushrooming if hit when frozen

I have always just done my own work. I have heard that the ionification air fresheners that you plug into the outlet in your car work quite well for smoker smells.

I borrowed one of these electronic ionizer from a local detailer, ran it all night and it worked great. The car smelled a little like ozone for a day or so then it dissipated. Used it to remove the sour milk smell after a carafe of hot chocolate overturned in the back of my then Honda CRV. It soaked the carpet so much that it ran on the ground under the car. Never smelled it again after the treatment.

That's good info on the ionizers - didn't know they rented industrial ones.

Keep in mind that most ionizers remove smell by "sticking" extra molecules to the dirt or smell which then makes them fall out of the air - a good vacuuming afterwards is required for final removal of the odor, but any good shop vac will do THAT job.

Why? Is Ted not looking for business? I'd think he'd WANT people to be able to reach him, between his Griot's stufff and his detail service. Just give his business info.

Just showing some courtesy to Ted. Would you want your cell number on the net?? If Ted wanted his contact info on the web he would do it himself me thinks.

The OP has been provided with contact info.

If I was in business, HECK yeah. It's called "promotion". Or is he doing the Griot's thing on the side, only "by invitation"? Most business people have business-only contact info (I know I do for my writing). But, if you're in doubt about his status then yeah, it's best to be cautious...

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I took the car to Sax here in Grandview and had them do their interior detail service ($79.) They did a good job and the smell is pretty much gone.

I may try the ionizer thing if the smell comes back.

Somke smell in the car

I had the same problem, I had the car fogged. It worked great and the smoke smell never came back. It is a fogging machine that you let run for about 2 hours ( depending on how bad the smell is) with the blower on high. I can get you a number of the guy I usedf if you want.

Smell is back.

Well, the Sax Detail worked for about two weeks but the stale smell is back. It really bums me out, because I like the car otherwise. Does anyone have the number of a place that will rent me an ionizer/ozone generator?

Thanks,

vin.

I talked to my guy and he said if the smell is really bad the smell will never go away. My car didn't smell that bad so it worked. Here is the info if you want to give him a call.
