Dublin St. Paddy's Day Parade Assembly Dirtections (Sat. Mar. 15)
Dublin St. Paddy's Day Parade Assembly Dirtections (Sat. Mar. 15)
PARADE UPDATE: We are confirmed in the parade and have a line-up location!
For those that want to drive in the parade, here's the relevant info:
DATE: Saturday, March 15
TIME: 08:30 for breakfast and coffee at Bob Evans in Dublin, just off Franz Road (across from MAG). Actual parade assembly time is 10:00AM
LOCATION: Dublin Metro Place (south across 161 from MAG - the same place as they had the Dublin British Car show last summer). We'll caravan over to our assembly location, which is: Lot 2, space 62.
The parade begins at 11:00. If you're planning to arrive after 10:00, it's a good idea to be there before 10:40 or so, as at SOME point they shut down the road to make it as safe as possible for marchers.
We'll head over as a group from Bob Evans across from MAG a little before 10:00. As I recall, the lots are marked with signage, and then each assembly slot has its own sign. For those coming in late(er) and not meeting us for pre-parade coffee, just tell the parade worker "Lot 2" and they'll direct you, then look for the MINIs!
If history is a judge, we should have plenty of time to decorate the cars after we get to the assembly area. We're NOT planning on passing out candy or anything, as Dublins rules on that are that it must be handed directly to people and not thrown, and I know not everyone wants to or can walk. if you want to pass out candy and walk the route with us, please be my guest. Kara and I will stop at a party store and get green balloons, streamers and other inexpensive decorative gee-gaws, but if you want to bring any of your own, please be my guest.
If I forgot anything, lease just let me know. Thanks!
PS - MAG is NOT confirmed in the parade according to the final list I got... Between Kris's new baby and the recent showroom fire they had, I'm guessing they're too busy with other stuff right now. Too bad.

Oh, one last thing - I still am looking for a second driver if the parade day is not raining. If it's clear, I promised Dublin we'd have at least one classic Mini (Paul might bring his as well depending on weather I reckon), and Kara will be leading the dog and wagon, so I'll need a driver for the purple cabrio who can drive stick. If you want to drive it let me know, and you can meet me at my house at 7:45 or so - we'll drive over together (I only live like 6 minutes away from BE). Thanks in advance!
