Deleted event......

This event has been canceled due to lack of interest & fear of the insurance man.

Ones age isn't important......

It is for anyone who would like to become more proficient in handling their car thereby becoming a safer driver. It's an alternative to autocross. I know some folks won't do them even though they are great at teaching car control.

Yes for 10x the money. I have a friend whose daughter took the Mid-Ohio school & he speaks very highly of it.

I've done several SCCA compition schools at Mid-Ohio. What a great track.

I will have to remember this as our daughter just turned 16 . Once is starts driving it may be a great way for her to become more confident.

I learned skid control in Sioto Trail, Tar Hollow & Shawnee State Forests. SCCA again.

No skid schools way back when the earth was still cooling.

No, that is the slow way around that particular corner. Old fart drifting FTW, well for a top 20 anyway.

If you do this CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE... Even if you take a "driving school" type event with an instructor in the car, some insurance will not cover you if you get in an accident. Paul wrecked at a driving school a while back and his insuance DID cover him since he had an instructor with him, but when we called our insurance (Eerie) they said that they do not cover ANY damage that comes from a non-street incident.

Just warning you all - better forewarned than sorry.

I guess the above reference is ASSUMING you are going to wreck while on a track. While one never knows when something like that will happen [if ever], getting the proper schooling on a track is a helluva lot safer than going "field testing" on a twisty mountain road.

Why are you so anti driving school Matt??? I happen to know it can & will help people, even ones very close to you. I posted that event idea, because I felt it was a good idea that would help people. Don't you realize that it is held in a parking lot at low speeds under controlled conditions? It is not a competitive event.

Why do you keep posting about Paul's accident??? Why call out his name??? I think for you to keep harping about another's misfortune is very sad & disrespectful. Boggles my LAME mind.

Everyone has been respectful to you & your family about your little incident. We thank God everyone in your family survived. Heck, but now to hear you tell the tale, folks are supposed to think of you & yours as hero's of the Dragon. Folks have bit their lip being respectful to you & yours.

A warning from a friend - better get someone to a school. Those that don't learn from history are destined to repeat it. "Better forewarned than sorry". Indeed, very well said Matt.

You hate track days autocrosses & driving schools. What's that leave you? Parades? Better be careful, it might be considered a competition event by your insurance company.

Matt is correct about the insurance ....There was a guy at Mid ohio that totalled daddies new (temp tagged) BMW M3 into the wall ... He was trying to bribe a tow truck driver into hauling it out into one of the side roads to claim it happened there

Oh Lord help us.....

The BMW school is in a parking lot at a church. Yep God will total your car. Run away, run away, fast.

Any one that goes on track takes that risk. But what is being suggested here doesn't even come close.

What Matt refers to, regarding the Mid-Ohio Motoring Club member's car involved in a wreck last Summer while on a track had NOTHING to do with his acting out a "racing fantasy". It involved brake failure while in the cooldown mode AFTER the checkered flag that signifies the end of a run. He wasn't hotrodding or showing off. Parts break, and/or tires blow out...on the track and off the track, too. However, no one should be paraded about on here as if the mishap had anything to do with driving skill factors or carelessness, because that's just pure B.S.. Truth be said, after such a wreck, both the driver and the instructor walked away.

I love Top Gear as much as Matt hates drivers schools. Those guys are a hoot. Maybe we could get THE STIG to come to a LAME driving event. Psst, don't tell the insurance company.

Have you seen the one with the American Stig? BIG STIG they called him.
