2022 and new JCW convertible loud?
My wife is interested in getting a mini convertible. I'd like to get the JCW version. I test drove one today. It seemed pretty loud when you get on it, but not that bad when driving regular. Granted I had the top up.
My question is if the JCW if much louder than the S model? |
I haven't driven the convertible, but in our JCW Clubman, 90% of the additional noise is the "active sound design", aka the fake engine noise. Once you turn that off, it's not much louder on the interior vs the S.

Sound-wise, the stock JCW exhaust is fairly responsive. Goose it, and you get a burbly growl; stay light on the pedal and it just purrs here and there. The ASD muddles all of that up. |
Yep some is fake sound, and some is real. With the top down and an aftermarket exhaust it will increase the sound. Some like it and some dont. The stock JCW exhaust has to be the most quiet VS aftermarket.

ASD gives me a headache, one of the first things I did with Bimmercode was turn it off.

So, I bought the car for my wife and it will be shipped next week. 2022 JCW Convertible with Iconic. Chili red with 7500 miles CPO for $37,750.
Looking forwarding to enjoying it in the northern Virginia fall. First mod will be coding out the active sound. |
