R52 or R53 JCW's In Green?

Anyone here have an R52/R53 JCW in BRG? The R52 JCW in BRG seems rare. Lets see those pictures

Is this a JCW Factory car?

Oldboy Speedwell May 7, 2022 05:03 AM

I've never been a big fan of the metallic version BRG that MINI used (don't hate on me! only my lame opinion LOL)...

...but,
I am a HUGE fan of British Racing Green when it is done up proper as is supposed to be,
like the old Jag style.

NAM member @Finhead re-painted his in such a way
and I think it looks absolutely fabulous:

Now that’s a proper BRG

No doubt.

The owner called it a "very true old school BRG" and he was on point.

His car was originally the factory BRG and during resto he decided to go classic with the color since he had easy access to a paint shop,
this pic especially highlights the difference between the two colors:

A very thorough and well-done job:

A nice direct sunlight shot:

His resto-build thread is highly impressive,
really good stuff all around...

...great to see these cars given such nice love!

I am exactly the opposite. I feel the modern BRG with metallic is stunning, especially in sunlight. I noticed this yesterday when detailing one of my Mini's. It has an incredible depth and just looks very very classy. It is a similar BRG to my 2018 Jaguar F-Type R. I do like the "old school" BRG as well, however for me, just a little boring on a small car. Reminds me in a way of a Military vehicle color or the green used on the early 1970's Triumphs and MG's (Not that that is a bad thing).

My $0.02

I’ll agree that the classic BRG doesn’t look quite as good on the R53, but when it’s on the right car, it just belongs.

Yeah,
I see what you're saying regards to "military color", it's just me personally have no love for the metallic colors, regardless of shade, so just subjective bias on my part.

And wow,
F-Type R?

Those things are luverly!

I count them as one of the most beautifully brutal modern cars ever made, above the Alfa 8C or even the newer Aston Martins, Jaguar just got it *so right* with the design and they are truly jawdropping in my book!

:

A wonderfully non-boring green would be Porsche RS Green,
like how @Tweedbean chose to go.

WOW!

And on topic,
would have to agree with you about BRG JCW being somewhat scarce.

BaT had one tho:

A random example found on the world wide web:

And,
a beautiful pic of factory BRG,
not a JCW but a Sidewalk with Malt:

beatboy77 May 8, 2022 06:26 AM

I was very lucky and last week found an excellent condition 2008 BRG JCW Sidewalk manual with 92k miles. I grabbed it immediately and is now at my Mini shop getting fluid changed etc. We did decide to put a new clutch in it and some other matainence items as well. In my years of researching this specific combination, I have only ever seen two others. One in Michigan and one in Canada.

I agree. The F-Type R is a modern classic for sure. Being a Superchargercar only makes it more appealing to me. I know of two F-type SVR's in BRG as well. Hope to trade "Up" to one of those some day.

Oldboy Speedwell May 8, 2022 06:48 AM

Awesome!

Congrats on finding your unicorn.

Looks good!

:

After I discovered that many of the supercharged musclecar guys do s/c whine mods,
with further research came across that F-Type owners do it too...

...started a topic here on NAM on the subject:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-tube-mod.html

But my thread quickly digressed into an allover-everything smorgasbord of multiple tangents. LOL

MCS4FUN May 8, 2022 10:15 AM

I very much like the R52 beatboy77 just scored, however I'd prefer the color be simply called "metallic green" vs BRG. Yes, supposing I too am a traditionalist that way with BRG being an opaque much like true reds, whites, etc etc. What would one think if Ferrari changed "Rosso Corso" to a metallic?

cmt52663 May 8, 2022 12:48 PM

I've been properly enamored of British Racing Green my whole life - my first car in that shade was a Jaguar XK-150.

Here are my four generations of Mini, going back eighteen years. All slightly different shades...
