Core Charge

I thought you couldn't keep the head because there's a core charge? Did they just show it to you? What stuff can you keep?

I believe the core requirement only applies to the supercharger & head. Other parts are typically scrapped (MINI of Peabody regularly has a pile of old exhausts).

ebay

Well, yet again another reason to get it when new.

"New" stuff on ebay has to have more value than slightly used parts, right? So, if the cost of the kit is the same whether or not your car is new, and if you can get more for the parts that are no longer needed, the math seems to work in favor of getting it at the time of delivery. No?

Except: here in MA at least, if the JCW is put on when new, the sale price of the car will reflect the extra - this in turn will affect the annual tax bill sent by my town ...

Not true...mass town tax and insurance costs are based on the blue book value of the vehicle, as in the base MCS. I was very happy with how low mine was. Despite a bill over 30 grand on my MINI, the property tax when I bought it listed a valuation of 17k!
