FWIW I had my R58 JCW Coupe's ECU tuned at a place in Tempe, AZ in 2017 and it was great. It was probably more power than I needed. And the guy who did it said at least half the people he did had already bought one of those "clip on" piggyback boxes before seeking him out (I never did though). I think people will let you mail them the ECU and they'll tune it and mail it back.
I hated my Dinan Elite and Dinan's customer service was severely lacking. They weren't able to fix the issues so they said to return the unit. So I did but they never gave me a refund. My RPM tune done by Mario has been great and he can do it remotely if you don't want to pull your ECU.

How does he do it remotely without the ECU? And as I recall when I had my R58 done about 3/4 of the time spent was updating the car's software before he redid the ECU. Is that possible to do remotely or is it even necessary?
