New digital gauge cluster

Here is a link to the Motoring file with an article about the new digital gauge cluster. From what I read and the images I am not impressed.

Tach is still too small

Eh, I don't know about that design. I agree, tach should be in your face.

Again, I have sold my JCW. But I really liked the setup in my '08 and '13 Ss. I just don't get the thinking behind BMW's making the tach secondary on the dash. I admit that I have to wear bifocals. And I could never ,comfortably, use the popup. After many, many years of driving, I want that info thru the steering wheel. Sorry, but like a Porsche. They had it right with the R53 and the R56. WTF happened?

It should be like in a Porsche - Tach should be large and front and center. The speedo should be smaller and to one side, or a small digital version within the tach (as in the second gen cars).

I am not a fan of digital data unless it is projected on the windscreen. I have the chrono pack on my JCW and like it except for the useless track timer. They could offer it with the tach, in place of the lap timer and it is all in the sight line. Looks pretty cool as well.

Completely agree, I am not impressed at all and it doesn't match well with other elements of interior design. I never liked either the current generation with its small sided tach.
