any issue swapping LSD into regular manual car

Perhaps a dumb question (i'm new to mini's and this site). i'm parting out 06 JCW car with a limited slip trans and would like to swap into my other 06 (regular S) car and would like to know if i'll have any issue with traction control lights / warnings. my guess is that it's a plug and play. also: does anyone have the part numbers for both LSD & open trans/dif. thank you. jake

you need to stick with pre facelift or post facelift the gear ratios changed and it will cause problems if you swap a late trans into an early car

you can always take the LSD out and just swap that

why will he?

just swap it,

I have completely different ratios and the only thing it affects are the ByteTroniK logs where the gear number is displayed in the log, now it gets confused,

you will have no warnings whatsoever!

there are no BMW part numbers for the diffs as they weren't available any other way than a full box.

I'd fit a Quaife or better still an MFactory ATB in there, the stock one does work but it only a 25% locker and doesn't do quite so much to reduce torque steer where the others mostly resolve it

sell your LSD box to help fund it perhaps

One thing I didn't see mentioned is that if you are putting that trans into a pre-facelift car then your cruise control may not work. Aside from that, there shouldn't be any real difference,

He's going '06 to '06. Should be no problems. I've been pleased with the performance of the factory LSD in my TRACKRAT.

they're both 06's

Only problem I see is the fun you’ll be having after!

There will be no problem switching them, but adding that will only gain you a 25% limited slip. I would just add a better one though! I have had easy wheel
question: Are you parting it out due to blown engine? or damaged car?
If the engine is good, I would swap both and have the computer tuned to the higher powered engine! 210 hp! (stock on JCW)
Will you be offering parts off of the old one?

If you're going through all that trouble why don't you just go with a Quaife or OS LSD, it's better than the stock one.
