JCW Spark Plugs Maintenance.........
Mini recommends replacing the spark plugs at 30k intervals. Does anybody replace them sooner as 20K for better MPG? I am asking because I am a believer in preventive maintenance.
Also, what is the expected life of a battery........ It has been replaced 2 years ago. |
My 2014 Coupe's battery quit holding a charge before the warranty ran out. But I never replaced the battery on my 2007 MCS and it was 7 years old when I traded it in.

While it may be overkill at this point, I like to change my spark plugs every 15K. No rhyme or reason whatsoever as this is just a personal preference. As for the battery, I have the OG unit from 2009 and its still going strong. I do however put it on a trickle charger whenever i am out of town. My two pennies.. lol

In the last 10 years we have purchased 4 new domestic vehicles none of which have spark plug replacement required before 75k miles. 3 of these cars have, or had, turbo chargers. Why does the Mini go thru plugs so fast....and coils too?

As for coils, I never heard they need to be replaced. |

The JCW engine maintenance states plugs need to be change at 30K intervals. It is probably because that specific engine has larger valves, pistons and turbo than the regular S engine which I believe is 100K.
As for coils, I never heard they need to be replaced. Valves-pistons etc etc are all the same.! |
