I don't even have my JCW yet and the workbench is piling up with goodies already. Anyone else done the same thing? I mean what else are you supposed to do during that 8 week waiting time. I mean I even ordered wheels already but asked my wife's opinion on a few different ones last night. That way it lets her feel like she has a say, haha.

Just make sure she gets to drive your new JCW. My wife hated my 718S cayman. She loves to drive my '19 JCW.

The JCW is mine, she won't share her CM so I got my own. She told me I had to sell the SQ5 and didn't think that I would really do it. It was on Craigslist the next weekend and sold in 48 hours, ha. I was then at the dealer that weekend ordering mine.

By the time my Mini arrived I had full suspension, wheels, track tires and blackout parts. Mine was a lot longer than 8 weeks though because when I placed the order for my JCW they had just finished running JCWs and all the ones the dealer had moon roofs which I did not want.

equate that 8 week wait to a 9 month wait and it raises a serious question. My co-pilot fell in to it and ordered her own R60 4 years ago.

Well, what I did, besides obsessing about whether or not to get a plug in tuner box, was to track the ship movement, at least once/day. As a Left Coaster, I got to watch it go through the Panama Canal and up the coast. Plus it was hurricane season so that made the east coast and Caribbean parts pretty interesting. We do this because we.... care

That's too cool that you were able to watch the ship carrying your new toy through the canal! Ours was stuck off the Southeast Coast for a week waiting out a hurricane in early 2016! I installed the NM module on our F56 JCW in May of 2016. A very simple plug and play unit and now with over 40K miles there have been no issues. In sport mode with the PRO exhaust open it produces 269 HP and 285 FT. LBS. of torque. Enough to be dangerously fun on an extremely twisty road!

Haven't had a new car in awhile, so was wondering how long to wait before getting it tuned? How long of a break in period?

hadjiikong 03-28-2019 04:51 AM

For my car I drove it a 1000 miles before going into sport mode and kept out of boost, then drove it stock from 1000-5000 miles stock, changed the oil and went all out with a DP, tune, exhaust, and intake. Have not had any issues at all with the car in the past 3 years.

160k miles and 14 years of owning my 2005 R50 MINI, MINI Obsessed? Mmmmm, family knows that the MINI is just another part of the family! My wife said I ruined it with all the track mods, so I bought her a classic Mini. MINI Obsessed? Mmmmm, maybe. Hee hee. Enjoy the drive!

I didn’t baby mine much, but I just drove sensibly. If you can keep it out of sport mode for 1200 miles, well good for you! NOT! It makes no difference... just don’t over-rev and drive overly hard is my advice. My 2015 JCW is stock with no add-ons for performance boost and it’s fast enough for me....maybe some day.

I just followed the owner's manual: stayed below 4500 RPM & 100 mph for the first 1200 miles. I used Sport & normal mode, and ran it at a variety of RPMs & speeds, just tried not to exceed the parameters MINI established. A few months after, and the modding began!

Got a call from my MA, she still hasn't arrived yet, but 2 more boxes showed up instead. The wait is almost unbearable.

Almost here, she's been stuck at the port for 2 weeks cause they couldn't install the pro exhaust. So now the dealer has to do it and they want to charge me for it, I said, "hell no!"
I ordered the MINI that way and that's what I want, so fix it or I'm going somewhere else. So now it was finally delivered to the dealer, more waiting...

Reading those bulletins, it doesn't apply to your car. Only Countryman and Clubmans.
