Anyone found a 17x8 that will clear the Brembos? [5x112.4, 66.5 bore, 40 mm offset]
Sorry for the dedicated thread, if I have missed something already here just point!
I've looked at the NM Rse05 but near as I can tell they do not go 8" wide - only 7.5". There are numerous offerings with an 18" diameter, but that is not what I seek. I'll be delighted if anyone can help with this puzzle. Kind regards, Charlie |
I've an inquiry pending with Automobile Associates of Canton Inc regarding Braid Wheels - we shall see.
I've another inquiry pending with NM Engineering to confirm that they can not do a 17x8. Cheers, Charlie |
I believe that NM offers a 17X8 wheel for VW. One of the forum members ordered a set of them in red and NM machined the center bore to be compatible with Mini. Give NM a call and talk to Jerry.

Somewhat related question--will an 18x7.5 clear the brakes? I'm starting to do research for my wife's soon-to-be-delivered JCW Clubman on winter wheel/tire combos.
If you find 17" wheels that fit, I'd be interested in those as well. I'd rather run a smaller wheel if possible. |
NM's RSe05 17X7.5 et40 will clear BBK. They also have 18" that will clear the brakes.
|
Thanks. I was assuming 17x7.5 wouldn't fit based on the OP's desire to find a 17x8.
Do you know if 17x7 would clear the brakes? There's a set of Paceman wheels on Craigslist for $220 that would be a steal. I have these same wheels on my Countryman. Maybe I'll wait and try my wheels on the Clubman once it gets here, though that will probably be another 3 weeks. edit: wait, it looks like the 3rd gen bolt pattern is 5x112 while my countryman is 5x120. Rats. |

And the winner is (with thanks to vetsvette) Jerry at NM Engineering, partnered with Paul at SupremePower who source the NM RSe05, and do the precision machining required to adapt it to my car.
Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so it will be a week or more before I break out the bubbly. Do stand by... Cheers, Charlie Contact info should anyone else be this daft... Test fit this week. Will fit all four and go over the clearances carefully. Fingers crossed.

Do those wheel sets fit without spacers?

We'll see if mine will also fit tomorrow. I've asked the Pit Crew at Mini of Peabody to do a full trial install and check all clearances.
Fingers crossed - I'd hate to ship them back to the left coast again... Cheers, Charlie |
17x8 NM Engineering RSe05, plus machining, is a game changer
My thanks to NM Engineering (RSe05 wheels), Supreme Engineering (Custom machining of center bores, and assembly), and of course Bridgestone for the RE71 tires. We're good to go for 2019. This is certified by the Mini of Peabody Pit Crew. Joel Decoff Crew Chief.
They fit, https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...d8cfdee1f1.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...841d425d1a.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...4cfdbdd7aa.jpg |

Not too close actually. I am so pleased, as the car is traction limited and has very low gearing, and this solution will help both of these concerns. Cheers, Charlie |
I have a 2017 JCW Challenge and the wheels look quite inset (i believe they are 7.5x17 et52) I will be experimenting with spacers soon and expect to run 10-12mm spacers. Following I am interested in some lightweight 17x8 alternatives, possibly OZ HLT or Braid, TWS or Rays
The tyres they come with are MPSC2s 215/45/17 I do really like the et40 17x8 Braid FullRace GT shown in another thread |
PS the suspension is Nitron R1 and I am about to have a full Geo and set cambers to -2 degrees
|
If I buy the NM wheels 17x7.5 Rse05 wheels for my '19 JCW, would I be giving up any strength or durability ( compared to my factory 18x7 wheels)?

You won't be giving anything up, except for saving ~8 - 9 pounds per wheel.
I have been thinking about how to have a decent all-season wheel tire combo for my I/O JCW for awhile. I am probably going to go with these wheels and a Bridgestone 960as ( a runflat). My car is a daily driver( never tracked) and I am going to be do some traveling in early March. This is my fourth MINI and the suspensions have really improved over the years. I put the Bridgestones on my last MINI, a '15S, and they rode great. I would really like to go with Michelins, but I think I like the idea of runflats when I am out in the middle of nowhere. |
I don’t think you can go wrong with the RSe05 wheels. I’ve been running the 17X7.5 for more than two years. Still happy with them. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...48038b742.jpeg |
