2006 jcw hatchback

I have a quick question for you all. I have a 2006 JCW hatch that I am looking to put up for sale. I believe it has the dealer installed JCW kit (it doesn't have the red brake calipers), and the VIN comes back as an S. Any idea how much its worth? I have gotten a couple of trade in estimates but the dealer always comes back with a low ball number because there's no option for the JCW when you do KBB or Edmunds. It's in great shape and great working condition. 94,000 miles. I just want to get a fair price for it. I love this car! it's our 4th Mini, and I LOVE the supercharger whine!

I should also say that I’m in Northern California.

Sounds like it could be a dealer installed kit? Do you have the JCW installation certificate. Should be the later kit with upgraded fuel injectors and airbox. Some pics of engine bay would help (Should have JCW badging). Should have JCW exhaust also. Trading it in at dealer isnt a great way to get money for the car even if it is a JCW model :(

It has the badging, exhaust, and upgraded air box. I don’t have the certificate as I bought it used. I know dealers don’t give you what the cars worth, but the offers they gave me were just terrible. Not even close to what I paid. I’ll take some pictures and post them. Production date was 11/06.

Forget the stealership, sell it privately. Run the VIN through one of the online decoders, you may find the option "3AL" to indicate a factory installed Works package. If not, the accessories were probably installed by one of the owners at some point.

yeah. That was my thought exactly. Now I just need to figure out what it’s going to reasonably sell for. I’m not looking for a profit, just to get what it’s worth and maybe get lucky and sell it to someone who knows what this car is.

Here’s some pictures. I also have to edit.. I checked the VIN and it was actually manufactured 11/05 so definitely dealer installed JCW kit.

My two cents is that its a dealer installed kit, it doesnt appear to have the sport package (ASC vs DSC and no fog lights?) which all factory JCW's were optioned with. Add a shot of the fuel injectors (So can see if it got the higher flow injectors).

There is your answer. Do your research across the internets for your pricing.

It does have fog lights. Just hard to see on the pics. I'll see if I can get a picture of the injectors. I'll check on the kbb site and see what I can find out. I'm positive it's a dealer installed kit as the manufacturing date is 2005. Thanks for your help everyone.

The JCW Package (option 3AL) was available with November 2005 builds. The package included the 210bhp JCW Engine Tuning Kit, JCW Sport Brakes and LSD (option 2TA) and required ordering the Sport Package (option ZSP). These two packages added $7,700 to the car's MSRP.

You can identify a factory JCW by decoding the last 7 of VIN.

If the JCW Tuning Kit was installed at the factory option 3AL would have been on the list along with option 2TA (LSD). Also this car would have been built with the Sports Package which included 17" wheels and DSC (not the highlighted options).

The Aero Kit was not a JCW branded part.

Not all JCW models in 05 and 06 came with the areo kit, it was another option.
