My 2006 JCW (new to me)
I have had it less than a week. It has 201,000 miles. It is a little rough, suspension bottoms out very easily, paint is n rough shape, has a little hesitation when getting on it.

Thanks guys, I dropped a k and n in it last night, my plugs wires and coil packs came in last night but too late for me to change them out. I spent most of my night in 90 degree heat with a heat gun and an old credit card pulling off the clear protectant the previous owner had installed on the car. I only have the bumper left so this weekend I should be able to finish that up and change the plugs and what not.

For 200k it looks pretty good. And it's Space Blue which I always liked. Hope we can help when you need stuff for the build.

My all time favorite color, did you happen to get any of the service history with it? I am just curious, when I picked up my Checkmate that was my deciding factor, allot of the big issues had been taken care of. I still have but allot of entertainment trying to get her reliable from the years of neglect. And welcome to the site and to the space blue club

I did get some of the service history from the carfax. I was serviced at a dealership pretty much all of its life. I also found the original owners email address on a piece of paper in the owners manual. (I bought it from a wholesale dealership) The supercharger has not been serviced and the clutch has never been replaced. I bought it knowing that and I was ok with it because I want to do the work myself and I have a 10 year old son who wants to work on it with me. I will do almost anything to keep him off his xbox and Ipad!

I got to see some of the service records through the carfax before i bought it. I also found the original owners email address on a piece of paper in the owners manual and got a little back ground on it from her. (I bought from a whole saler but she was the original and only owner). It still has the original clutch and the super charger has not been serviced, so I have some work to do! |

Good for you and your son to bring it up to a new life together! You have the best Gen 1 Mini made and it will become a keeper, that could become his first street car! We will help you through any difficulties, getting it roadworthy again! My hat is off to you and your son! |

It is great! It reminds me when I was a little kid! I got a D2 caterpillar, when I was nine! It helped to define my life. It is cool that some of us here had similar experiences! I guess it may be why we ended up gear heads! LOL I would not trade my youth with anyone! I felt life could not get any better! I plan on doing the supercharger service in a few weeks, I had to repair a few things to get it through inspection so I need to wait to restock “the mini fund”. Changing the timing chain tensioner this week. So far, I have changed or had a garage change: rear brakes and rotors, front passenger side axle, windshied, rear struts, oil and oil filter, plugs wires and coil pack, tires but then I found out I had a bent rim so wheels will be replaced soon too. |
I have the same model, 120k km, Im interested about the supercharger rebuild and would like to hear more when you tackle that. Any mushrooming on your Struts? I was lucky but would still like to install a fix for that. Super fun to drive, enjoy!! |

A few months in...
So far, I have replaced the struts, rear rotors and brakes, Leak detection pump, Transmission fluid, Fuel Filter, radiator, Serviced the Supercharger. I had to replace some of the brake lines in the rear due to leakage, Had a shop do that. No It is driving a hell of a lot better but, I cant get rid of the engine light, getting code P1498. I have been through the forums and just cant figure it out, may have to have a shop diagnose it, I am sure I just didnt seat a gasket properly when I did the supercharger service but I have torn it back apart and put it back together and have had no luck.

I have seen the P1498 code somewhat often. Check the line from the shut off valve for cracks and replace the pcv valve. There is also the chance the shut off diaphragm, or vacuum line, or the spring broke . All which could keep the shut off opening when it needs to be closed.
