My 2006 JCW (new to me)
 

I have had it less than a week. It has 201,000 miles. It is a little rough, suspension bottoms out very easily, paint is n rough shape, has a little hesitation when getting on it.

Thanks guys, I dropped a k and n in it last night, my plugs wires and coil packs came in last night but too late for me to change them out. I spent most of my night in 90 degree heat with a heat gun and an old credit card pulling off the clear protectant the previous owner had installed on the car. I only have the bumper left so this weekend I should be able to finish that up and change the plugs and what not.

For 200k it looks pretty good. And it's Space Blue which I always liked. Hope we can help when you need stuff for the build.

My all time favorite color, did you happen to get any of the service history with it? I am just curious, when I picked up my Checkmate that was my deciding factor, allot of the big issues had been taken care of. I still have but allot of entertainment trying to get her reliable from the years of neglect. And welcome to the site and to the space blue club

I did get some of the service history from the carfax. I was serviced at a dealership pretty much all of its life. I also found the original owners email address on a piece of paper in the owners manual. (I bought it from a wholesale dealership) The supercharger has not been serviced and the clutch has never been replaced. I bought it knowing that and I was ok with it because I want to do the work myself and I have a 10 year old son who wants to work on it with me. I will do almost anything to keep him off his xbox and Ipad!

It is great! It reminds me when I was a little kid! I got a D2 caterpillar, when I was nine! It helped to define my life. With friend and father, we built this little Crosley in 1959:

This was taken when I was 11 to 12 yrs old. wheel barrow tires, diamond plate fenders, overhead cam Crosley engine on Crosley frame. My first car!

D2 bulldozer? My father had one of those along with a D8.

It was given to me, on my 9th Birthday. It is one of my fondest memories! A D2 Cat, felt like a giant to me then! LOL I loved that Cat and sadly all the pictures I had of it were lost over the years. My mother had the ones of the Crosley. We also had 16 mm movies and I think my sister just found them in our parents belongings. They would be a laugh to see now!

I learned to drive on an early 80's model D3B :lol: :thumbsup: oh, and we got a late 70's model (1979?) D8 when I was a little older for big stuff, but I didn't use it all that much. The smaller dozers are so versatile.

It is cool that some of us here had similar experiences! I guess it may be why we ended up gear heads! LOL
I would not trade my youth with anyone! I felt life could not get any better!
I ended up owning several cats (D2,D4 and D8) over the years (also international T6, TD9, TD340 dozers) all small to medium sized!

I am sorry I drifted a bit here, but I am so happy your son has taken an interest and on an 06 Mini Cooper S! wow!

The supercharger is a weekend project but it isn't too bad if you keep yourself organized and have an extra set of hands. I just did mine about a month ago (at 75,000 miles) and found very little oil in the water pump side but there was no damage to the water pump gears. I would get that done sooner rather than later.

This is my 06 JCW...same color as yours. 107000 miles on the clock...still solid as a rock.

A few months in...
 

So far, I have replaced the struts, rear rotors and brakes, Leak detection pump, Transmission fluid, Fuel Filter, radiator, Serviced the Supercharger. I had to replace some of the brake lines in the rear due to leakage, Had a shop do that. No It is driving a hell of a lot better but, I cant get rid of the engine light, getting code P1498. I have been through the forums and just cant figure it out, may have to have a shop diagnose it, I am sure I just didnt seat a gasket properly when I did the supercharger service but I have torn it back apart and put it back together and have had no luck.

I have seen the P1498 code somewhat often. Check the line from the shut off valve for cracks and replace the pcv valve. There is also the chance the shut off diaphragm, or vacuum line, or the spring broke . All which could keep the shut off opening when it needs to be closed.
