exhaust for jcw

Hi everyone,

just a maybe dumb question :

I think I saw somewhere that the exhaust diameter is different between F56 S and JCW.

How does it affects aftermarket exhausts?

What is the best cost / efficiency / noise (no drone) exhaust for JCW?

I cannot see myself paying 1700$ for the PRO.

I saw a nice promo on the invidia q300, none on the AWE (sadly)...

Can someone enlight me?

I believe the JCW is a 2.75 inch dia exhaust. Not sure about the Mini Cooper S but I would assume something like 2.5 inch. The most cost effective/efficient/no drone exhaust is the one you can fab up yourself that uses good mufflers and is made of 304 Stainless Steel.

We've been selling many different exhaust and have to say the Remus on the F56 is awesome as you will have the valve to close and keep the noise and drone away, but can open it to make some real sound when you want.

If the JCW is 2.75, would the axle-back Remus be the way to go? Or ... is there an advantage to using the complete cat-back system?

The price is quite steep for this one... just a few hundreds to the JCW Pro..

Axle back means I need to cut the mid pipe?

I have had the JCW PRO for three years and it has been flawless, pricey, but it added 8 hp and great sound. The Remus has had good reports as well. It's simply a matter of choice. There are other solutions as well, NM, etc. If you opt for fuel efficiency open the valve and drive in eco mode although in this scenario there is definitely a drone, but you can achieve stellar fuel efficiency. But, I generally don't use it due to the drone which is annoying.

these are Mini's not a Prius

S is 2.5, JCW is 2.75. I added a Milltek midpipe and had to make a slip fit out of my JCW exhaust because they were the same diameter.

I use it when driving on the interstates, you don't need handling and JCW performance to drive more than the posted speed limit in eco mode. When on two lane roads it stays in sport with the exhaust open. I have done backroads all the way from home to the T.O.D. It spends more time in sport than eco, but eco is good in snow and crappy conditions. Of the 28,000 miles I have on it the vast majority are in sport. However, I run 93 octane fuel in it and if I can save a few pennies running in eco I do. I have hit triple digits in eco, and it still saves a little over sport. The only range I don't use is mid.

I saw a guy on YouTube AdamLZ that has the Remus on his F56 S it does sound great, plus performance gains! I think that would be my choice for my F56 JCW plus I would save $500+ over the JCW

My only question does it have a resonator option? and since the JCW has 2.75 would the Remus Cooper S spec work on the JCW. I'm guessing the Down pipes are all the same size between the S and the JCW?

Ive watched that video a few times. Initially when they took the DP out it was way too loud. The next video he posted was them getting a resonated midpipe and installing it.

Oh he installed the Mario cat-less downpipe before the Remus Install?

Do you think I would also need the resonated mid section since I'm running open downpipe like them? I have the same catless Downpipe from Mario..

I don’t have a resonator on my midpipe and the only time the car is embarrassingly loud is at startup. Once ByteTronik gets healthy they are going to send me a new tune with the cat warming cycle deactivated. Hopefully that stops the loud startup.

Other than that the driving exhaust note isn’t bad by any means. I still have my JCW cat back so I can shut the flap at startup and open it once I get driving

Just installed the Remus exhaust on my JCW and I absolutely love it. So far I have kept it 100% open because it sounds so good. What is amazing is that it really growls and pops when you push it, but is totally quiet when cruising.

^ Linky no worky

I have the same kit installed and it is probably one of the best mods I have done to my Mini. It just sounds awesome.

You use catless downpipe? does not trigger engine light?
as I know, catltes will destroy one of the oxygen sensors, am I right?

I have a ByteTronik ecu flashed tune so it eliminates it.

But yeah, without it then you will get a CEL for sure

Link didn't work, but the exhaust sounds awesome. Thanks Mini_Vinnie.

So far, I'm keeping at 100% open. Great sound at idle and on acceleration. More bangs and pops than should be allowed, but so much fun. The real bonus ... absolutely quiet cruising at 70-80 MPH. I love it!

Just got the Remus, worth every penny. Been running full open, really growls when you accelerate and just a mild drone at cruising. The drone at cruising is so low no need to even turn up the radio.

I also love the fact that the settings stay where you left them, so no need to reset at startup. It really is a very nice system.

After playing with the settings, I liked the 50% mode to be a good balance. That was until I spent some time on the road. The 50% setting has a noticeable drone, which is totally absent at the 100% setting.

Still ... absolutely love it!

So you literally have a straight pipe all the way through! How is the drone??

I am going to start with muffler delete then progress from there, it is my wife's DD so no drone is a must. If it drones I will replace muffler and look at other options...

If you straight pipe all the way it will drone. But some people like it loud. Remus sounds good but the IPE and FI exhaust sound awesome.
