Advice please on this 2016 JCW Mini that’s for sale

Hi all,

I’m looking for advice on this 2016 JCW. They are asking $30K... from my research, it appears overpriced by at least 2K with that mileage (33K).

https://www.carstarsales.com/invento...h-Hollywood-CA

I’d love to get some expert opinions on the car as presented as well as things to look out for as I plan to go see it this week. I had a 2nd Gen Mini Cooper S and overall i loved the car but it wasn’t the most reliable. From what i’m reading, the 3rd Gen seems more reliable but want to confirm.

How’s oil consumption on this engine (my 2nd Gen needed a qt every 2k miles or so)?

Also, can anyone tell me if you think the car was lowered? I asked the dealer and they said it wasn’t. I really don’t want it lowered. The stance looks great to me but i don’t want an aftermarket suspension with “unknown” issues.

Thanks,

Will

Thats just asking price!!!

What I would ask myself, what is it doing in a used car lot in North Hollywood?
A JCW, most likely traded in would stay on a dealer's lot (Even Non Mini dealers), not wholesaled out to an auction.
(Thats how these small lots get their cars)
Or consignment.

Look at their Yelp ratings only 5 star, and 1 star ratings. Even a 5 star rating for waiting 7 hours to do a deal.
Does not feel right.

Looks lowered to me. Also has other mods, front bumper lip, side lips, black head and tail light rings.

You would think they also would have taken off the Mini PR club sticker from the inside.

Obviously the previous owner belongs to this club: http://www.minipr.org/

So Mini PR is a Mini club in Puerto Rico. Makes me wonder if it could have been a hurricane car, or just someone who is from PR and lives in CA. I don't think i would want to take the chance on it being a hurricane car that this dealer got super cheap on auction.

Just by looking at the Carfax you can see it’s a CA car

shift boot

The shift boot does not reflect a JCW. Look at the shift lever - it looks like a Cooper S. Doesn't look right for a CA JCW hardtop.

Vin# shows it to be a JCW. Car still has warranty with MINI so I'd consider it if price is right and you spend the $100 or so for a PPI or get a written guarantee of returning it. Not sure what CA laws are for a cooling off period on used (2 days?).

It does look nice, and has plenty of options, I feel its 2-3k too much,

But it looks like a nice car, I love the color combo. Just not sure of the history..

No oil consumption in Gen 3 cars, or any problems on my 16 JCW similar opted. Definitely at least Springs are installed, if there black they Should say NM on them! that's a $365 bonus!

I would shoot for 25 offer then come up.. get compatibles.. (autotrader) etc..

Hope that helps,,,

Looks like a nice well maintained car. If the CarFax checks out and if you can get a dealer to run the VIN to get maintenance history I'd probably make an offer. It looks lowered to me and has some nice, expensive bits added. JCW spoiler extensions, new front lip/splitter, side skirts, black headlight and tail light surrounds, and from the looks of it, every option available but auto trans. It does not have the Chrono Pack like the description says, but does have the HUD. Can't have both and I'm not sure they offer the former any more anyway.

I know what you mean about the R56 using oil. My '07 needed a quart every 1100-1200 miles. I haven't heard of any oil consumption problems on the F series. Be advised that the 3rd Gens do Not have a dipstick.

Cooling off period was abolished 20 years ago in CA

That must have been attached to the bill outlawing common sense. I left CA in '84. Especially loved living on the Central Coast. Can't think of a thing that could entice me to visit now.

Definitely a good looking car. I would also say it has been lowered and some definite upgrades. As far as oil consumption I have not had any issues with my F56's. Does seem to be on the high side for price.

Gigamot. I saw a video a while back of some guys in Russia making some that looked like that. Didn't see it on their website though.

Looks like a pretty nicely loaded JCW. Probably cost $45k sticker new. Who knows how it ended up on that sleazy looking car lot lol. GO FOR IT DUDE!
