R52 JCW sway bar and x-brace question
R52 JCW sway bar and x-brace question
I'm thinking of getting an X-Brace so if anyone can let me know their experience that would be great. Also, does my JCW come with bigger sway bars or are people upgrading them? Thanks in advance.
Is your car lowered? I like the x-brace, but have bottomed out a couple of times and my car isn't super low. The cat might also be hitting the x-brace under heavy acceleration making the car roar/vibrate like crazy, but I haven't been able to get a good look under the car yet to verify.
Not positive on the swaybars, but I think they are the same as what comes on the S. A lot of people go with solid 22mm bars or the hollow Hotchkis 25.5 bar.

Had the TSW/WMW brace on my R55 and you definitely notice the improvement. Sold the R55 and then sold the brace to a 2nd gen convertible owner. He has thanked me repeatedly on how much it improved chassis rigidity and handling on his car.
My R55 had stock Sport suspension and his R57 has stock sprigs with Koni sport struts. Both cars will bottom out the brace over high speed bumps. Just go slow over them and you should be fine. I would not use this brace on a lowered car.

The sway bar on the JCW R52 and non JCW is the same.
The sway bar is by far the biggest bang for the buck mod on the suspension and always our first recommendation

X brace will take longer to jack up the car than to install.
The sway bar. I can install in about 20min. So for someone doing it at home I would say budget 2hrs as it slows you down being on the floor.
