06 jcw suspension, factory, port, or dealer installed?

anyone know if the jcw suspension in 2006 was factory, port, or dealer installed?

With exception to R53 JCW GP1, the John Cooper Works Sport Brakes and Suspension were a dealer installed accessory.

I know that is not true factory 2006 jcw came with jcw brakes

I found threads that said suspension was port in 1006 along with the aero kit

I thought it was a mixed bag, port if optioned and dealer most of the time 2005+ was some weird times for JCW options.

yeah it's hard to find info on what was VDC in 2006 so I'm pretty sure it was JCW brakes (standard on factory JCW), JCW suspension and JCW aero kit.

any other options VDC or factory installed? I dont want to get protested in autocross and the rules allow factory AND/OR VDC options for SCCA Street class.

Car is a 2006 Factory JCW

The JCW tuning kits which included engine mods and brakes could be factory installed, but all other JCW items were either port or dealer installed.

do you have proof that ALL were a port option? That is very important for those that autocross

dealer installed does not count, not legal in street class

If you run your VIN through the VIN decoder, wouldn't it show the build sheet from the factory?

I also have a ’06 factory JCW, with just the sport suspension, and I tried researching this myself a couple years ago to determine whether I could change to JCW springs. My findings were mostly inconclusive… This is the most detailed discussion I came across: http://www.sccaforums.com/forums/aft/47591

Apparently there is some evidence of the suspension being capable of being port installed, but I don’t have a copy of actual documentation on that (never reached out to the person on sccaforums who said they have this documentation, as I never went to JCW springs).

Part of the issue is all the misinformation floating around this, like the 2nd post here saying JCW brakes were all dealer installed with the exception of the GP, well I think that’s true pre-'05/’06, but definitely NOT true for 2006 JCWs. Which is the entire reason why the only first gen JCW classed in DS (with the 2nd gens) is the 2006, because any earlier and the entire kit could have been dealer installed.

Regarding VIN, mine only lists the Sport Suspension option, but that doesn't mean I couldn't install JCW springs legally if we answer the port question.

IF your VIN actually lists JCW Suspension you probably have a good case, because I don't think (though not 100% sure) that a dealer installed "accessory" would be tied to your VIN.

The problem is it could be port optioned or option at dealer install back in 2005+ for the Gen 1 MINI. But again I don't have any hard writing that stated this. I remember this way the way, because i bought my R52 MCC new back in 2005. If i find anything , i will let you know. At best I remember it being an internal document.

Mini CS sucks and is useless....... It is the worst I ever had to deal with.

They have never been able to find the paint code for the JCW Challenge wheels.

I am wondering if Mini North America CS is outsourced to Asia.

There are two colors i know of , we don't carry them but a local MINI dealership can get them.

51910419887 Gray Metallic Touch Up Paint Stick - Wheels

and

51910427186 Reflex Silver Metallic Touch Up Paint Stick 144 - Wheels

Worth a shot, those are the only ones i know that are silver , you would have to get them and test the color to see if its close enough.
