With new wheels being built, I wanted to tackle the front brakes because I was sick and tired of the constant brake dust up front. I figured while I was in there, I would install some stainless steel brake lines. I order the slotted and drilled sport rotor from MINI, as I get a discount on parts from the dealer, and ordered up a set of HAWK ceramic pads. The stainless steel brakes lines came from Detroit Tuned, and the lines were very nice. The install was very easy, and I'm very happy with the pedal feel. Bled the brakes after the install with my Motive power bleeder and all is well. Just thought I would share!
The factory JCW brakes for the Gen 1 MINI look good and like the slotted / cross -drilled. They were rare on the Gen 1s. We carry matching rear ones in ECS Geomets: https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2005-...raking/Rotors/
I need to do brakes and was looking at HAWK ceramic but I didn't think they made them for our JCW brake kit. Link to what you used that worked?
Did you do the rear as well or just front?
You should be able to look up front pads and rotors for an R56 S. Many places don't have first gen JCW listed in their fitments. There are a lot of "poor mans" JCW conversions out there made from R56 S calipers, complete with red paint and decals. The stainless lines are different, so if you have actual JCW calipers, make sure you get R53 lines.
