JB+ on JCW Coupe.........

I received my JB+ today. I set to 40 as recommend for the N18 JCW factory engine.

Tomorrow, I will drive on the freeway for about 200 miles.... over mountains and down and it is really where it matters to me when I need some punch.

If everything I read about it is true (20/30) I will stop complaining about the JCW lack of power and torque. It should be well balanced and a serious improvement from the original specs.

I will keep you posted about my feeling.

FWIW, I put one on my car today (2013 S). Really helps quite a bit, I feel as if the car has more power for sure... As I broke traction in second gear around an S bend that I never broke traction with before.

It's not huge, but it's there for sure.

I stayed in town today so I cannot comment on my own experience. How did you set the dial?

Well, if it gives 20hp/30tq, it is acceptable which is an improvement of about 10%. I don't really ask for more.

Got mine used from another user online. It had been set to 100% , glad I cracked it open, I turned it back to 50% (factory preset). It has to be about 20hp or so, its a "noticeable" gain, I run 93 at all times, so I feel its safe.. No cels so far.. only thing I can tell as a minor "side effect" is that my car used to really pop - more a bang on low speed throttle lifts.. that's gone, more just burbles.. pops are very minor now.. so.. its doing something.. But its also been cooler/dryer than it has been in a few days... so I don't know.. But, its so easy to install./remove for the money spent - its a win for sure...

I wish I could dyno it.

We don't have 93 here. It is the reason I set at 40. I drove about 15 miles of freeway today and I saw a big improvement about the engine pulling stronger over 3500-5000 rpm and the car was faster to reach speed.

I believe that I will definitely like it. It is the punch that was missing in the JCW Coupe.

Set mine to 100%

I have a lot of mods done to my car but I run mine 2013 JCW at 100% with 101 octane and all the mods I've done and I can say my car is really fast, no check engine light, I service it at the dealer all the time and it runs great. I've had it up to 171 mph on the freeway and I have smoked a lot of cars. Have fun with yours ! PS my car weighs 2173 lbs wet with me in the car and it's corner balanced.

How did you saved so much weight from about 2700 lbs? It is interesting. Is it stripped to the bone?

It must take some nerves to drive at this speed on a freeway.

I'm thinking the weight is a typo. I had my car on the scales at a recent event and I was at 2585 in full race trim. That's with about 200lbs stripped out and me not in the car.

Hell the German Raptor was 2300 with carbon fiber body and Lexon windows.

Do you have the JB+ and what do you think about it?

It's been 300 miles since I installed the JB+, OP said it best... the car has got some punch in it is the best description yet. Top 3 engine upgrades, intercooler, free flow air filter and JB+.

Anyone know if they plan to do any plug and play for the N14. Everyone says there are heaps of tuning options for the N14 but it's either bench flash or some discontinued plug in job.

Crank the JB to 100%; turn off DSC; turn on SPORT mode; hammer the loud pedal and hang on!

I would like to read some comments on your reply because I am not sure if it is really what to do. It doesn't seem to be recommended from Burger. JCW engine have to be tuned down to 40.

I have the set up at 40 for about 200 miles of driving until now and while the performance has been better at installation, it seems to go flat from now.

I will go back to 50 and see what will happen. Otherwise, I will remove it because I don't want any problem to come from a tuning kit.

Now, I live in the desert at 3 digits temperature from now. Maybe there is a special tuning set up for desert driving.

Comments would be welcome.

unless you're running higher octane, stick to the recommended settings.

Do they make something similar to the JB+ for the 2005 R53?
I've done nothing to the car but add a CAI, all of my mods have been cosmetic.
I'm not looking to take this thing on a track or anything but I would like a lil more pep in her step.

Are there any markings on the dial or just guess?

Of course, there are markings.

BMS doesn't have a phone customer service. They just reply by email to questions and technical support what seems a bit strange to me.

Furthermore, I had to ask many questions but the only reply has been to turn down the dial....... to lower boost pressure.

They don't seem to have any data on how their tuning kit performs at different climatic conditions and the answers are evasive. So, it seems that it is really "plug and play" and try to set the best you can.

The kit may run fine in cooler climate than desert without these questions ever have been asked.
