Color choices ?

I do want to order the JCW when the refresh is underway, but.... I don't want to have to make ANY compromises on the exact car I want. My "color of choice" at the moment is that striking "Blazing Red". The only problem is they don't offer that color in the JCW. Why not ????

I am an older guy and can easily rationalize a loaded up "S" if that is the way I have to go to get the color I want.

Oh well, supposedly, the '18 refresh will offer two or three more color options. Maybe one of them will strike my fancy in the JCW lineup. I've always liked that "schoolbus" yellow.

Chili Red is the classic MINI and JCW color .... it really looks good on the cars. Blazing Red is really nice as well ... it's all up to what you want.

Well, that's my dilemma. The Blazing Red is compelling a choice of the S versus the JCW. Maybe the mid year refresh will help with some new colors.

For me that red horizontal strip in the grill is a serious problem. It looks good only when the body and/or top color is Chili Red. It clashes with all the other exterior color choices and looks like an ill considered add-on decoration. I did see last year that someone had replaced the red with the standard MCS chrome piece - appearance much improved. IMO.

Delivered yesterday ... very pleased with dealer delivery process. Orlando MINI is great! A few custom touches ... Chili Red mirrors and Red/Black coco mats. A few other mods scheduled, but waiting delivery on parts.

Very nice! Love the coco mats too! I've been thinking of going with those for a couple years. Does the velcro on the back of the coco mats line up with the stock attachment position?

No need for velcro ... they have very aggressive nubs/pins/whatever on the bottom. Had them on my M5 since 2009 and loved them ... very durable and very high end. Not cheap, but a real quality product.

I've had many 2002's over the years. I bought a new tii in 1972 (with help fro my father). Prior to that I had a 1967 1600 and and a 1970 2002. I sold the tii in 1974 because I was smarter than everyone else and bought a Porsche 356B ... that's another story. The next 2002 was a 1974 model that I bought to race in SCCA's "new" Improved Touring class in 1987. Despite a low budget, it was a very successful venture with lots of wins ... an absolutely wonderful car. I'll never forget a friend and competitor commenting on the fact that the car had to be difficult to drive because it was always sideways. I responded that it was perfectly stable all of the time, and then he showed me a picture of him chasing me ... his car was perfectly stable ... I had noticeable opposite lock. Regardless, the 2002 was significantly faster than his car and was incredibly easy to drive fast.

Great! Another '02 enthusiast....you know what it's like then! Ha! I have 4! I even still have an early tii engine (VIN 2760081) that I've always wanted to rebuild! Nothing like an '02 & one reason I still hate electronics in modern cars! You can always repair an '02 on the side of the road....but they seem to never break anyway...lol!

Enjoy your new MINI!

A lot of truth in that roadside repairs were easy and the cars were very reliable. My memory is that they were one of the best balanced handling cars I have ever drive. You could drift it and never know ... it was that balanced. Maybe I need to find another one to play with. That said, the MINI JCW is pretty sweet.

This thing is begging for white wheels! Looks great! Glad to see someone else ditched the JCW seats on their Clubman. Thought I might be the only one.

Yes, I would go for the red roof. It makes its work with aesthetics, that's why I have seen so many people wrap their gen 1 and gen 2 MINI JCW's in a red roof.
