JCW detailing nice or tacky?
Now that people seem to take delivery of the first JCWs, what do you think of the custom details?
On top of my mind, I can think of
I'm a bit concerned that I won't like the print around the center console, as it makes the dashboard look busy. The three gauges shown on the car at the New York Auto Show are by far the worst offenders though. I really don't like those. But I also realise people have different tastes. I want my Mini to be sleek and sophisticated, while others might prefer them race-y and over-the-top. What are these things like in the flesh? |
Having only seen the JCW at the Detroit auto show [NAIAS], I don't feel the JCW branding everywhere is over the top any more than having a red roof.
I do find it odd that the engine bay has zero JCW badging, however. For such notable under-bonnet changes, I would expect a JCW badge to accompany or replace the MINI badge. My only hesitation is the graphic around the center console ring, I agree it looks a bit busy, despite it thematically matching the speedometer. It might end up being suitably whimsical in every-day driving, we'll see. I'm envisioning snapping that tirm ring out and either wrapping, dipping, or painting it. |
Those 3 guages behind the wheel look horrible. I'd opt for the HUD or just delete them.
