R53 JCW - mpg

Dear all,
I just recently sold my 06 MCS and get myself a used 05 JCW. I realize the JCW drink a little more gas than my regular MCS with 15% pulley upgrade, I used to get 24-26mpg(sometime get 28mpg on highway) but only get 22/23 on the JCW. Just wondering if I just drive the car harder or it really does drink more gas.
thank you,

Coming from an R56......I think the gas mileage SUCKS!

I could get 27-30mpg, beating on it all day long.

MPG sucks but it is lot more fun than the regular mcs,
and yes, I know the R56 got a much much better MPG than R53, but I love my R53.

Yeah but the R53 is in the shop half as often as the R56, haha. I would rather have the reliability

I'm in the low 20's with my commute driving which is a mix of city streets and a little freeway. Car is an 06 cabrilolet with every possible JCW option. I drive it pretty briskly. On the freeway, if I hold it to a steady 65, I can get nearly 30 mpg. But I usually can't drive that slow. Oh well.

On a normal daily basis, I tend to be very aggressive in my driving (have to be around DC) but I am still in the high 20's for gas mileage. I recently went on a long trip and (doing just over the speed limit) I got over 35 MPG.

BTW, I have a 2011 JCW Convertible.

Interesting. My 06 is no where close to that good. But it's supercharged and I do have a very heavy foot. Also, if one drives just over the speed limit around here, they'll get run over. Close to 80 is more normal.

On my 2006 JCW GP I get 22-23 around town. I get 28 on the highway (with hills and non constant speeds). I always drive the car hard with no concern about gas mileage.

What's the point of having a performance car and not enjoying it that way? Kinda like going out for an ice cream treat and getting imitation ice cream instead.

I think the OP just wanted to make sure his numbers were in line with other JCW owners. I would venture to say everyone on this forum loves to lay into the pedals.

I get (consistently) 25 mpg city, and 28 / 29 highway, almost regardless of how I drive!
