JCW springs on Cabriolet
JCW springs on Cabriolet
Wondering if anyone has JCW springs on their Cabriolet or are the JCW springs an option for the Cabriolet? Evidently the weight of the rear of the Cabriolet is a issue for lowering springs.
I have a full JCW cab (2006) and I believe it has the sport suspension. (I once thought it had JCW suspension, but I was informed that the JCW springs are a different color than what I have. One of these days I'll check the part number on the struts and find out for sure.) It already sits about as low as I'd want it to and appears to be the same height as a regular JCW car. I also like the spring rate and someday, when I get better shocks, I'm going to keep the springs. When cornering hard, my car stays flat with imperceptable body roll, even when someone else is observing the car from some distance.
I've heard that the springs are different between a coupe sport spring and a cab sport spring. Apparently the cab springs are slightly stiffer to handle the extra weight.

There is no JCW suspension kit for cabrios. If you have JCW suspension parts, they were meant for the hardtop and would make the car sit slightly lower than a hardtop because of the weight difference.
Yea, I know that. It's just that I'm wondering if something out of the ordinary might have been done to my car. The guys at BR Racing drove my cab and said it was amazingly tight and responsive for a cab. They're used to cabs not being as sporty as mine. So I wonder.
(The car was originally purchased by a Utah car collector for his wife. She either couldn't or wouldn't drive a 6 speed, so he put it up for sale at a Los Angeles Ferrari dealership. It was sitting on the showroom floor with all the exotic machinery when the guy I bought it from found it and bought it. Apparently, he used to race the original Minis back in the day. Then he put it up for sale because he'd found a nice GP to do track days with and he didn't need 3 Minis.
