Said goodbye to my 08 justa and said hello to my "new" 06 JCW

Well yesterday I traded my 08 justa in for a BRG factory 06 JCW w/ 60K miles fully loaded. The best part was the price. $10,000. There are a few things that needs to be done to it but they are just maintenance items; brakes, oil change, plugs and wires and thermostat. And the nav screen has s few lines of dead pixels. All of this the dealer wanted $2500 to do everything except the nav. I just ordered all the parts from outmotoring for less than a grand. So I'll take a day or two and get the work done next week.

Because the dealer thought there was too much wrong with it they were going to send it to auction! Thankfully a friend of mine is a MA at the dealer and gave me the heads up and was able to make the deal.

Besides all of the stuff I'm getting ready to do to it what do you guys suggest I check and/or replace? This is my first time dealing with a super charger. I had a WRX so I know turbos but not supers. Thanks for any help.

Great deal on a great car.
The items you listed are indeed just maintence issues.
The most common improvements on a S/C are reduced pulley, intercooler, fuel injectors.
It all depends on what you want to do.

Nice, congrats on the new car! I'd trade in my Justa for an older JCW

Nice buy,

I just did a water pump in mine (boy there's a lot of stuff in front of it) and the thermostat. Pulled the supercharger checked for leaks and oil levels. It made no funny noises and spun right but the reservoirs were both way low.
Sitting flat on a bench if you remove the oil plugs the level should be to the bottom of the holes, mine were both way under. tilt it on its side to drip way under. I topped up both sides with Ingersol Rand Ultra Rotary compressor oil.
Try going into you local NAPA and asking for "supercharger oil" GM offers a supercharger oil for the cars with chargers. It's special order. I did chem comparison and properties search between supercharger oil and my rotary compressor oil. I found very little difference. I've got 15 gallons of it in work.
(I guess I'll be the first to know if it's not compatible).
When you start taking things apart label them and take pictures. The hard plastic hose you move may not fit, if it's over the wrong wire or half inch to the right. Check upper rad hose that crosses under the air intake, I found wear in mine to the point of being thru the cloth and into the rubber inside.

Thanks for the tips guys. Just a few more Q's.
Is it worth getting an aftermarket CAI or is the JCW intake about the same levels?
I don't live in a state that requires emissions checks, how much louder does the exhaust get by cutting out the resonator and does it throw and CEL's with it removed?
And do you guys know if anybody still sells the JCW leather dash and down tubes or would it be better trying to see if red line goods can do it.

I have a JCW CAI and performed the flapectomy. There are numerous theories about this procedure. Congrats and good luck.

I found no difference between the standard JCW intake and the CAI systems.
IMHO The flapecomy just increases the noise in the cabin. If I'm doing a steady cruise up 91 thru VT I like to listen to music. the open flap just adds a lot of unneeded noise. stick with the JCW box. There was a place offering carbon fiber downtubes I cant remember if it was rogue minis or carbon weasel. If find it I'll post.
Out of all the cars I've owned in the last 35 years the JCW is my favorite, fastest, and most comfortable.

Calm down - make sure everything you have is healthy and reliable. There's a whole lot of progress in the apparently excellent deal you have made.

Brakes, bushings, the usual. If it was me I'd get someone I trusted to run a compression test, just as a baseline, not expecting trouble. For extra paranoia check the lubricant levels in the blower.

Freshen all the lubricants, and get used to it. Then progress from there if you are truly ill, as many of us are.

Kind regards,

Charlie
