Has the factory JCW tune kit ever been released for the 2011 MCS?

What I have heard is that the kit for manual gearboxes is available to be ordered, but dealers are not sure when it will arrive for installation (means money up front to order it). The kit for MCSa is not yet available, even to order. Base on some past motor changes (like 2007 MY) the kit didn't hit until around August. The kit should include: SS exhaust, JCW air intake, and upgraded ECU maps getting MCS to around 200 HP.

The kit consists of an upgraded JCW air intake (cone filter), a stainless steel exhaust with JCW tips, and an upgraded ECU. The kit should bring your S to near 200 HP. The down side is the cost, est. ~$2500 installed. And, must be installed by MINI dealer. However, it does keep warranty intact.

From my dealer parts dept:

The MINI rep is stating that the estimated availability of the JCW Tuning Kit is the 2nd week of May, pending timely CARB approval.

Will let you know the moment I hear more.

Do you know if this is the kit for sticks or will it also be available for automatics? --BZ

Got an update from my dealer parts guy:

Yep, it looks like the tuning kit is available finally. I checked the part number and it looks like there is availability in the US. If we ordered one it would arrive in about four business days.

Sounds like it's time to schedule a visit!

Cool!! Be sure to let us know your experience with it after you get it installed!!

BTW: If it is not too intrusive, would you mind letting us know the price your dealer quoted you?

I've just contacted my dealer requesting a quote. If I can get it for $2500 me thinks I'll do it. Questions, are there any drawbacks to having this kit installed (aside from the expense)

I was considering doing a kit on my 2010. I don't think it's worth it.

my opinion is that the kit is worth every penny especially on automatic coopers, it turn the car in a completly different beast!!!more power, better sound exhaust, smoother auto trans., intact warranty...
believe me guys if you can afford to pay 2500 usd +or-, buy the kit

Good to hear...I have a clubman s coming...will have them install during pdi. Thanks for the note. Could you please post some pictures of intake and exhaust for us to see.

Thanks again.

By the way...what's to happen to the gas mileage...I would assume it goes down a bit?

And........ I just called my dealer to order the kit, and was told it IS NOT avaliable yet for the 2011s. They said they'll call me as soon as kit is avaliable. Wonder why different dealers are saying different things.

PS and why did my dealer say its not avaliable when Dorykiki has already had it installed. Maybe not avaliable for the manual yet ????

Your dealer didn't bother to look very hard. It is available now.

This is a bit of a misnomer. There isn't a factory JCW tuning kit. There is a JCW tuning kit that is dealer installed and then there is the Factory JCW. Not trying to be a nit picker but they are definitely not the same thing.
