2004 JCW question

I am looking at purchasing a 2004 JCW. I am not familiar with the standard features. I know it comes with 200HP. does it come with a beefed up suspension ? what are the other standard features ?

I don't know of anym but any way to check if it was beaten/raced ?

the price seems reasonable. I should be able to knock them down a little.

Price$16,495
Mileage24,336

thanks,
Soon to be Mini Owner

There are three different JCW options; engine, suspension, and brakes.
The JCW options are ordered separately.
The suspension option includes shorter/stiffer spings and matching shocks.
The JCW springs are red. The springs are about 5/8" shorter than stock.
The JCW brakes are also red with JCW logo on the front caliper.

I also have an '04 JCW. The JCW package at that time consisted of the engine mods, exhaust mods, and some stickers. I do not think suspension or brakes were offered at the time. The mods were all done by a dealer, they did not come from the factory like that.
You should note the JCW install number stamped very plainly in the engine compartment. Also, the exhaust tips have the "Works" stamped onto them at the top of the tips.
FWIW, I paid $22K in '05 with 30K.
Check the sound system over with a fine tooth comb. The amplifiers in those years are **** and cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars to replace. Do the windows have any hesitancy or move slowly? Is there water in the bottom of the battery box? Is the air filter a paper filter or has the owner moved up to a re-oiler? Does it still have run-flats? (pricey)
It's a fun car even without suspension mods and brakes are more than enough for usual driving and playing. I have over 100000 on mine and have not done a thing to any of the JCW components other than changing away from the paper filter. (They were like $120 when I got mine; they may be cheaper now)
