considering a JCW

hey guys im new here, im looking to purchase a new car in the next few months, i just wanna do some research before i do. JCW is on the top of my list right now. i have looked through a lot of dealers inventory, i couldn't find one JCW that came in just standard options, almost everything is loaded up to 40k. i think that is a little too much for a mini...

guys is there anyway i can just order a standard optioned JCW? i believe the msrp is around 29k, i wanna pay a little above the invoice price which is around 26k i believe. is this possible? have any of you guys done it before? your help is much appreciated! thanks guys

I don't think you are going to find a brand new JCW for $26,000. Even used ones are more than $26k.

would it be possible to order a standard optioned JCW, which has a msrp of 29500 and get a little discount on it?

I got $1,000 off ordering a $22,600 msrp plus 1.9% financing. A little over invoice? Maybe not, but less than msrp for sure if you are persistent.

Send a configuration and ask for a price quote. MINI is going through a difficult transition from being able to sell every car they can make for seven years to having to discount below msrp. Some of them are still in denial and/or shock. Shop dealers and then ask your preferred dealer to beat the best offer.

I ordered mine without many of the common options. For example, I didn't want the sunroof, etc. It took 122 days to show up but it was totally worth it.

I couldn't find one anywhere optioned like I wanted, so I ordered it...and ended up loading it up to almost $40K :-(....but I did get $ 1750 off the list, when it came time to sign the papers!

What-ev !! I'm happy...that's what matters.

So it sounds like my goal of 5% over invoice is probably realistic. The MINI has about a 10% markup over invoice for MSRP. A $40k car should be able to be bought for around $38k, correct? IS anyone seeing better deals out there?

Bought a new 2010 JCW in March that was sitting in port with a MSRP of 32350. It came with the premium package (currently free), so my price before TTL was 28400. Other options included xenons, white turn signals, and bluetooth/ipod. I didn't want a lot of options and the associated higher cost, so I was lucky to find this one.

Yes, but $3,500 is not a little discount.

Not me - no engine changes reported just cosmetics. Use the refresh as a bargaining tool.

You hit the nail on the head. Not sure how this really affects us the consumer though in the big picture. For years, it's been common knowledge that you can buy almost any make/model of car for near invoice pricing. But those same vehicles have crappy resale value, and it's really hard to know if you got a "good deal" on purchase compared to the next guy. MINI and other makes who could command MSRP (or more in some cases) generally had higher resale, and also you, the consumer, didn't have to worry about what the dealer might be putting over on you. You can't have it both ways though, and MINI has just become "another car" when it comes to the sales process.

Maybe so, but there are a bunch of interior changes, including Sirius and HD radio free this year. That's a cool $1,000 off, plus the plastic and gauge changes. Unless one is getting one heck of a deal, I think the 2011 is worth the wait.
