JCW Installing JCW Tuning Kit with New Delivery MCSa or Waiting Down the Road
Installing JCW Tuning Kit with New Delivery MCSa or Waiting Down the Road
Any benefits or disadvantages to installing a JCW Tuning Kit to a new '10 MCSa (to be delivered next month) or waiting after driving the car for a couple of months? Appreciate your feedback...Thanks
You can have it installed at the VDC when it hits the port and have it included in the price of your purchase/lease.
However I would wait a while (a few week to a couple of months) and drive the car to see if you really need the extra power. You would have to pay for parts and labor then. Morristown MINI always has the best deal. If you go the later route, purchase from them or have your local dealer match their price.
Morristown MINI also recently sent out a coupon for 20% off parts and labor on installed accessories.
MINI dealers sometimes have specials on this as its a popular mod.
Lots of comments on prices paid on existing threads here.

When my 09 auto was delivered the tune kits werent out yet so I had the benefit of driving before and after. all I have to say is you can do the same, but the JCW bang for the buck seems to be more appearant with the automatics than the sticks. It's because the tranny shift points are also remapped for performance as opposed to economy, as is the engine, and when the two work together it's nothing less than magic at 30 mpg.
While Ive gone full auto D in the standing 1/4 mile and let that bugger shift on its own, for the road and track I prefer manual, engaging manual up/down shifts faster than any human could possibly manage, w/o losing boost...
whoooosh gone see ya....
Prob good to drive it before hand like i did, so U feel the difference after tune kit is attached. after all, butt dynos don't lie.
