Cloth seats on JCW

Anyone have the standard "2009" JCW cloth checkered carbon seats and hate them? Durable?

dunno about the JCW cloth sports seats but if they're anything close to the MCS cloth sports seats there will be no adjustable lumbar supports, you have to upgrade to cloth-leather or full leather to get this feature.

these cars generate a lot of G-force under acceleration so it is nice to have that extra lower back support.

Did you mean stock seats on a factory JCW car, or the Recaro style JCW seats (not available in the US, would be better to ask about them on the MINI2 forum)?

The factory cloth seats are durable.

Yes, I mean the ones the US 2009 JCW cars come with as standard.

Renamed the thread slightly to reduce confusion, as the seats in question are not "JCW seats".

I have the cloth seats in my JCW...only 1800 miles so far, but they seem fine. I had the "letherette" sport seats in my 2006, and like the new seats better, much less sliding around during hard corning. They seem to be durable enough, but only time will tell, although they are a little harder to keep clean compared to the letherette

I have the cloth seats too and they still look fine after 7800 miles.

Love my cloth seats. I was actually pretty impressed with how durable they are the first time I saw them and couldn't justify spending tons of money for the leather ones. Plus, they look pretty cool too.

Also, FWIW, my back was getting sore from the lack of lumbar support for a few days. I reclined the seat slightly and have seen no such problems anymore.

I'm not sure about the seats in the R56, but in my old R50 I had cloth seats and they were okay. I switched to leatherette this go 'round if that tells you anything. My only real gripe is that after about three years one of seams came loose and that I had to shampoo them about once a month.

Edit - the stitch coming loose did not cause the necessity for constant shampooing. I just realized that it kinda sounded that way.

After owning both cloth buckets seats in a VW Jetta GLI and leather seats in an Infiniti G35, it was a no-brainer for me to choose cloth seats in my MCS. Cloth breathes better which translates to less moisture on your back and bum. Plus, there's less sliding around, especially with the Mini's handling.

I never liked lumbar support. I like my back to be flat, especially during spirited driving.

no lumbars on any MINI OEM cloth or leatherette seat. You MUST get leather or leather/cloth.

My front seats are coming out before I even take possession of the car. I'm installing the JCW Recaros in leather/alcantara. Personally I don't like any of the seats MINI offers as OEM optional.

Has anyone with the JCW cloth seats installed the lumbar kit in them? I have the kit but cannot figure out how the front and back cloth attach together at the bottom of the seatback. Any help out there?

Yes look for zippers at the bottom. They are tucked in.

Im confused here. My JCW has the standard Cloth/leather combination (black with silver pin stripes) sports seats and it has lumber support on both passenger and driver.

Your seats may be OEM, but they are an paid option and come with lumbar support. The plain seats that come "free" with the car (all-cloth or leatherette) do not.

My seat bolsters and layout is identical to that, just it has leather on the sides and on the semi-circle in front on the seat. Material wise its plain black with silver pinstripes. 100% sure my car has lumber support on both sides. It has a circular **** on the sides to adjust it.

So you seem to have the same leather/cloth option that I do. Mine comes with lumbar too, but these seats were a paid option. Standard is cloth or leatherette.

I did not know this.

Thats really pathetic of MINI not to put lumbar support as standard on their top of the range model.

Even my R53 Cooper S had lumber support.
