JCW Stage 1 Exhaust?

Exactly what is in the Exhaust portion of the JCW Stage 1?

Is it a Cat-back, a Turbo-back or muffler only?

Pipes are? 2.5 or 3?

thanks...

Exhaust

Had to go to the shed to measure both the stock exhaust & JCW portion.

JCW overall length is 54 inches. Single 2.25 inch splits into two before the muffler and then exits via the tail pipes at dual 2.0 inch. Then add the two fancy tips.

The stock MCS exhaust measures 72 inches back from the tail pipes to the cat.

Therefore you need to cut in the JCW to the stock exhaust.

Hope that helps.

so.... y're saying it's a cat(and-a-tad-more)back?

My SA told me it was catback, but then he knows im getting a 2009 and they've been doing some minor mount redesigning for 2009 models. He also told me the hot-tip recall is BS--he claims JCW tips can be adjusted in, if need be, no sweat.

Could very well be a cat back for 2009. Mine is a 2007.

Just trying to get a handle on what is in the exhaust portion of the JCW stage 1 kit.

So what I'm hearing is that the exhaust is a cat-back.

Was hoping it would be a turbo-back with larger tubes. Mini really conservatively piece meals it to ya - don't they...

The diameter numbers make no sense. I thought the standard R56 exhaust was 2.33" in diameter. Your measurement make the JCW exhaust smaller in diameter than the standard R56 exhaust.

The JCW stage one is not too much. The original muffler and a short portion of pipe is cut off. The new pipe with muffler is clamped over the remaining pipe and it's done.

Included with this change is a HUGE amount of drone from approx 2400-4000rpm.

I am currently looking for a replacement muffler with only having mine on for one week. It sounds great outside the car but not so great inside the car.

Had JCW TK installed on my 09 MCS a couple of weeks ago. I have NO cabin drone, whatsoever.

Explain, please.

BTW, I consider myself lucky having been deployed to Iraq for 15 months under numerous rocket-mortar attacks and never injured.

just had mine installed yesterday. if there's a drone, it's minimal, and the whole thing sounds sweet: throaty, but not head-turning cop-attracting obnoxiously so luvit!

(now I have heard that with break in they do get a bit louder, so we'll see.)

I got mine directly from Germany, it took 2 weeks to get ready and was 1280, plus 2 hours to fit....well worth it.
