I was looking through eBay UK and saw that some mini owners were selling their original exhaust manifolds once they had the JCW tuning kit installed. So I checked realoem.com to see if the European JCW kit had extra parts. It looks like they get a different manifold and air filter element. Has anyone else looked into these parts? Is there a difference in exhaust manifolds? Thanks!

US MCSs came with the JCW's exhaust manifold as standard, so US JCW kits don't include it. Don't about about this air filter element though...

 

Yep the UK (and all non US versions I believe..) get the upgraded manifold. It was upgraded to handle the increased exhaust temperature apparently. The US market uses it as standard.

Not sure the air filter is any different. Don't you guys get the cone filter too? The UK versions don't run a MAF sensor so there is a plastic collar in it's place but apart from that I thought it was the same.

 

These are some of the part numbers that are in question.

US MCS exhaust manifold, part #11627593149.

US JCW Stage 1 Air Intake, part #13720429380.
UK JCW Air Intake, part #13717577509.

So it looks like we get the JCW exhaust manifold as standard, and also the air filter elements are the same [didn't post those parts #'s], but the "intake muffler" is not the same part according to the above numbers. Any ideas?

Here are the JCW Tuning Kit installation instructions. There is one for both the US and Euro version, and page 5 shows all the parts necesasry for Euro based Minis.

That PDF is great. Just a couple thoughts from it though.
1. Is there a structural difference in the the air filter housings?
2. How come in the US we don't get the bellows?
