It’s hard to find any perfect use cars. Especially a pre-owned Mini, they are all unique in how they are ordered with various color combos’ and with various packages.

With that said, if you pay an extra $1,000 for that perfect car when/ if you find it. That is a small price to amortize over the time of ownership.

I think of it this way; if I get 5 great car days/ events in a year. A great day or event could be a track day, a Mini rally run, going to a Mini car show/ event, what ever you like doing. That’s like paying an extra $200 each time to be able to go in the ideal Mini. That’s not a lot of money if you are a car fanatic…. I don’t know what the car is worth or if it’s still for sale, but if you love the car and it sounds like you do.

Don’t be penny wise and dollar foolish, Go for it!

I ordered my 06 in 7/06 with the intent to avoid (sorry 56'ers, maybe a bad choice of words) the 07 turbo'd R56. I was worried that with time, I would regret or at least be less thrilled with my decision. I'm happy to report that 30,000 miles and 2 years later, I am happier by the day with my R53 Whiner(SC). Once you get over the $ issue, I don't think you'll regret it. Good Luck!

I know. Boost is addicting!

I'm shifting between 2.5 and 3k RPM's but it just seems like my gas tank needle moves down very fast! Is this normal? How many miles do you average per tank?

What is the strut tower reinforcement plate for? Ran a search on it but I didn't fully understand it.

I always run on super (91-93 octane) and my car runs 270-285 miles of city driving, however on the hwy. I can get over 325 miles. This is driving gently shifting around 2500 to 3000 rpm's.

Thanks. Looks like I miscalculated the miles per tank severely before I purchased the car! Oh well. With the way I'm driving right now, I should be getting about 20 miles more per tank vs. my 07 328i that I just got rid of.

Very hot - love the wheels. The strut tower reinforcement plates are to help guard against mushrooming of the strut towers. There are tons of threads and some speculation as to if they actually help, but for around $100 I felt it a no-brainer to add them the same week I picked up my JCW.

Great looking Mini, you made the right choice. Right now while you having fun with the new power, you'll get between 19-22 mpg around town. Once you start trying to get mileage figure 25+/- 2 in town and 33-35 on the hwy at 70 mpg. The strut plates are one of those items you never know if it works or not, but I've had them on my GP since day one and have hit a few potholes and to date no mushrooming around top of struts. Again great looking Mini. Cheers

I'll look into the reinforcement plates.

I'm averaging 27mpg right now. Not bad I guess. For some reason I thought the JCW got 35 highway and I'd average 30+ mpg. Fooled myself.
