The 2006 JCW. I wanted a late build R53, so this was ordered right as the last allocations of R53s were available. I threw the book at it and optioned it all except Nav (don't like the square screen in the round hole) and park distance stuff. But I did spec the english panther leather (tuck and roll seats) and the anthracite headliner/ w piano black dash.
Also lowered it, blacked out the beltline, and added black wheels w new/ non-runflat tires. Next is the joey mod headlights and de chrome. Eventually.
Here's the 2003 JCW. It's got some other light mods (Sway/ CAI/ Wheels/ tint/ Brembos/ addtnl' gauges etc...blah blah.
A shot of the back. I've since changed the clear tail lights to red lenses with clear turn indicator centers.

Yep. Nothing too special. I had to resist the temptation to buy HRE's or something.
18" FF7 in Hyperblack on the black car, and 18" black RT5's on the red car. (Although I re-powdercoated the black rims because I wasn't happy with the factory finish.)

Sport suspension a mistake?
I pick up my 2009 JCW Cooper S in a week or two.
I added the $500 sport suspension and now am having second thoughts.
Did I make the car harsh and hard riding?
Anyone with some experience on this?
I also have to deal with Wash DC potholes during my commute.

I haven't tracked the red car yet, except for a few off-speed laps around PIR for a car club event, so I can't speak as well to it's track manners, but it is softer around the edges than the black car. Different suspension entirely though (black car has Koni FSD/ H&R springs/ spacers for the brakes, and the red car has OEM dampers and H&R springs.)

Just dump the run-flat tires as soon as practical, and get good "normal" tires. You'll notice the difference in ride comfort.

here's mine. he's usually pretty dirty but well run-in lots of road trips. it's missing the upgrade kit; i have it in a closet somewhere but haven't gotten around to putting on the airbox and injectors. i'm gonna checker the roof soon, and when i move to michigan in the fall i'm gonna find a set of holies for winter rims i love white holies

I just had some Goodyear tires put on today and what a difference it made.
It feels like I'm driving a whole different MINI not to mention it is a whole lot quieter.

dmeisenberg - I think you want to post on the R56 JCW forum (2nd Gen MINIs) to get more informed answers on the new gen car.
But I can add that if you want your R56 to "handle well", the sport suspension is vital. The ride is more than livable.
Frankly, my experience is that the 2nd gen doesn't get truly "bumpy" until you put the JCW suspension on the car, but in the same breath I always recommend that any one buying an R56 to truly drive (and I assume a JCW kitted R56 would be bought by driving enthusiasts?) NEEDS the JCW suspension or else they will not be pleased with the car (body roll, steering feel, torque steer).
Let us know how you find yours when it comes in!
