JCW intake installed, now mini won't start
Just installed a new JCW intake into my wife's 05 MCSCa. Everything went fine, no problems. Went to start it and noticed the shift indicater as not lit. Turned on the key and after cycling thru the miles to service, it showed EP on the chrono where the other shift indicaters are. Turned the key further to start and NOTHING...
Went all back thru my work and nothing was out of whack. Called a mini tech friend and he couldn't find anything out of the ordinary...at least not as described over the phone. I put all the wiring back to factory and got the same results. Any ideas? I searched the forum to see if anyone else had this dilema but it seems like I'm the only one. HELP!!! Steve (mr.minianni) |
Geez I just noticed I put this in the wrong forum. Could a mod move this to the 1st gen forum please
Thanks Steve |
Well I know EP is a comp error, cant remeber exactly what though. I'd check the ECU conncetions and make sure 1 no pins bent 2 everything is in tight and right as I suspect thats your problem source  (1st gen-er here)

Just about has to be in the ECU connection Steve. If you want to compare yours to mine, let me know.

No bent pins and all connections are tight and correct.
I hate to think this has to go to dealer. |
Hey Mark are you going on the run tomorrow? I know you got to work some in the morning. Maybe you could swing by before work if it isn't too early.

PM sent.

update
Per the dealership..."fuse 01 in the engine compatment has blown. this has caused the engine temp to read a false number. With the temp reading too high the vehicle wiil not start. Replaced fuse and the vehicle started up."
Guess its time to replace my volt/ohm meter... Dealer also said that it sent a code to the tranny to "lock out". Oh well, live and learn. I'm going back to my 56 Chevy truck. This computer stuff is too advanced for me.:eek2: Thanks to all, Steve |
I still don't know how it could have shorted to cause the blown fuse. everything was shielded and protected as th e work was done and the ecu was NOT plugged in.
