Sweet MINI, man! That looks pretty good, maybe shave the side grilles too?

I may use flush mount door handles at some point.

xnotfunkylex Mar 10, 2007 05:36 PM

What if you just filled in the whole and painted the handle body color? That way you still have a handle. That might look pretty cool.

Crashton Mar 10, 2007 05:37 PM

Hey wait another minute......the same thief stole your sidewalls off your tires.

On a more serious note, I notice you have a roll bar in there. Whose bar is that?

At the moment...I'm getting rid of my chrome and painting everything flat black. This is just an after thought.

I like the shaved look but what do you do if your battery goes dead? Does the hatchback have a power-assist latch like the cabrio?

Yes it's just like your cabrio in that respect.

Shaved my front badge but haven't thought about the handles. I have a couple of VW buddies who shaved their hatch handles and have poppers. Major pain in getting them open without nay way to grip the hatch. With how heavy our doors are it might be tough to do an enjoy other than at a show.

Here's my shaved baby:

you're gonna need a pop door solenoid to open the doors. most applications are found on hot rods/custom cars... all of them come with a back up manual latch, usually at the bottom of the door. i love the idea uk... btw, +1 on the shaved sidemarker/grill. if you're gonna go for it, go all the way

edit: misphrased... not exactly "come with" you're gonna need to fabricate something. especially considering we have such a tall skirt.

There's a red one that drives around here with shaved door handles AND the shaved fender grilles. Last time I saw it was primered, but still looked sharp. And it was a cute girl driving it.

During AMVIV...we'll have to go track her down when the wives are out shopping:grin:

Where are you people at? In PA, as far as I know, shaved handles are illegal unless tagged as a custom or modded car because of fire hazard or whatever reason authorities may need to get in your car. Or thats what I've been told. I doubt its enforced very much.
