I think the scoop has a real functional and aggressive look--I like it. I'd really like to see some more pictures of the scoop. As to whether or not it takes in more air, I've read about large scoops on other cars having an advantage if they are high enough to get above the "boundry layer" of turbulent air that exists near the surface of the car. If this concept were not sound then why did Subaru engineers use such a large scoop on the WRX STI?

BTW, I don't get the "BMW engineers know best" argument. If this were true, then a stock Cooper S would always out perform a modified one. Car companies make sacrafices in performance all the time in favor of appearance, lower cost, noise, emissions, etc.

Sharp lookin' car. I like the rims too.

 

The more I look at it the more I like it. From the side view you can see how it comliments the lower lip of the front spoiler.

How much did it cost to get it painted?

 

You asked so I'll just say, I side with your girlfriend. But, it is your car and if you like it, that's all that matters.

 

It was $80 to have it smoothed out and painted. It was another $25 to have it wet sanded.

Congradulations on one of the biggest responses of a post here. Whether they like it or not, they're talking! I don't have the guts to get one. However I've ordered the Palo Uber light bar, and am planning on installing their exhaust before Christmas. Your car looks awesome, and anything to get more HP is alright with me.

BTW I think it looks killler! But your car would look sick with a front M7 splitter and the beltline blacked out.

I know there are some real haters, but many of the people that hated it from the pics, really liked it in person. It is just something you have to see in real life. I wonder how it will work with my new Black M7 DFIC? hmmm...
BTW I want that splitter and beltline tape. How come there was no "buy it now" button on ebay for it. I don't want to bid for $10 bucks.

Hey Glen, sorry I'm a bit late on this thread. The intercooler is working well but I can't find the black belt tape anywhere, and for the spiltter I'm not sure because I would never be able to take my car to the car wash. I love watching other people wash my car while I drink a Rock Star.

I did get the JCW steering wheel for Christmas and I must say it is my favorite mod.

I'm not sure if you saw the thread in Beanth the Bonnet but my motor blew up. Its going to take a SH*T load of cash to fix. Check it out. How's your ride?

no problems at all. The 225 40's with a 42 offset work perfect.

 

i heard about your situation thru the grapevine... sux
my car's doing fine, it's resting these days til i get back from shanghai. i ended up getting the alta v2 DFIC. nice boost increase according to the butt dyno.
i had a splitter on for 6 days til i lost it on the 60 fwy... it's just not practical

i hope the MINI gets fixed soon and without too much of a headache...

I haven't posted anything in a while. Yet this deserves a post. I saw this scoop and was very interested in it. As a matter of fact, I'm buying it right away.

Don't worry about the haters on this forum. I love my MCS maybe more than my girl, but I hate when people come to me and say it's "CUTE". Mind you it's slammed all blacked out and sounds like it's a formula one car. I think that the aggressive look of the scoop is exactly what it needs. I like how it looks like it is going to swallow anything in it's way.

I would also like to add, that Bulldogs aren't cute at all. They are so freak'n ugly that people think they are cute...LOL!!!

So keep up the sick looking whip and do your thing.

Comment and a question:

The looks aren't for me, but that's not important. The claimed 6hp increase, though, I am skeptical about but will believe for the purpose of this post.

However, even IF the 6 hp was real, how much extra drag is that thing causing? It has to be MUCH worse than the stock part, and the car already is un-aerodynamic to the point of being a 'brick'.

I'm just saying that the extra drag might counteract the claimed power increase.

 

I just ordered the Scoop. I have a '05 Jet Black MCS. I had Carol paint it for me as I could not see the unpainted scoop looking right on the car.

I saw that Carol posted here. He took the time to call me on the order as well. Seems like a great guy and is all about giving us options. Don't knock it...

For all the good and bad posts here... it was enjoyable reading! Mario, I will post pics and join ya in sharing the negative comments. It is all about what you like. Enough said. Thanks for helping me make up my mind!
