That's right... I spray-painted bonnet stripes on a brand-new MC...

Yep... Call me crazy, but I didn't have this beauty out of the box for 5 minutes before the masking tape came out:

Here we go... primer stripes are down and we're looking good.

But, I think that they really need some black highlights to really make 'em pop...

One day, he's gonna grow up and be a big, strong MCS...

Don't let anyone tell you something can't be done!

Way too much free-time :)

Dude, if you knew everything I did this weekend, you'd eat those words...

VRBeauty Sep 10, 2006 09:53 PM

kenchan Sep 10, 2006 10:07 PM

everytimeidie027 Sep 11, 2006 12:33 AM

nice job, when i opened this thread i thought i was gonna be reading about how someone tried to spraypaint bonnet stripes on their mini (the big one)

Kentiki Sep 11, 2006 07:45 AM

Nice job! Where'd you get the model? I've been looking for a Cool Blue MCC for my wife, and this is the closest color I've seen.

+1:grin:

I found it in KB Toys... It's a metal-bodied toy, not a model kit. I think they had a red one, too... I'm still on the search for an orange cabrio toy in a larger scale - I think that Hot Wheels makes one, but I've never actually seen it.

And, no... I'd never consider spray-painting stripes on a REAL car. :)

I hope you didn't use that nice Dell XPS notebook as a paint table!

NIce work!

ImagoX Sep 11, 2006 08:17 AM

That's my spray booth...

Ords Sep 11, 2006 11:56 AM

How long of a bake job on the stripes?

batgirlwildcat Sep 11, 2006 12:50 PM

Can you do my pink/white/black UJ roof?

ImagoX Sep 11, 2006 01:13 PM

If I thought for a moment you were serious, I'd agree, but...:razz:

batgirlwildcat Sep 11, 2006 01:24 PM

I have a JB toy MINI... but it has a white roof and no bonnet or boot stripes (it's also justacooper). If you'd like a real challenge, make it look like Malibu Stacy!

Funk_Flex Sep 11, 2006 02:27 PM

Nice work

But I took a less drastic approach to mine:

I build plastic model kits so I just trimmed some leftover decals.

I bet I could do that, actually... The boot stripes might necessitate taking off the tiny Cooper sticker, though... Nothing I can do about the MCS scoop, though, unfortunately... What scale is your car - the 1:18 or the 1:24? The blue one I did was the smaller 1:24 but I have a red 1:18 on my desk at work that's going "under the sprayer" tonight, and I can tell that that car has room for boot stripes.

Yucca Patrol Sep 11, 2006 02:30 PM

I painted a silver roof on a purple MINI that I found to match my wife's Cooper, but I don't think I've ever taken a photo of it. . . . .

batgirlwildcat Sep 11, 2006 02:31 PM

 Not a problem. I debadged the "COOPER". I just have an S.

ProfessorDave Sep 12, 2006 10:00 AM

Hey, why not? I taped off the roof of my Hot Wheels Cooper so I could put a checkered roof on (I just used a Sharpie), and think that is a perfectly good use of one's time!

Chappy Sep 12, 2006 01:34 PM

YOU'RE OUT OF CONTROL!!!

batgirlwildcat Sep 12, 2006 01:52 PM

I wanna see more pix of "youified" toy MINIs!!!

UKDragon Sep 12, 2006 03:41 PM
