Interior/Exterior Painting Supercharger cover
I paint them with the actual body paint then put about 5 coats of clear on top of that. I also bake them in the paint booth. Have not had one burn yet, I have had mine on for over 2 years and it looks as good as the day it went on.
Here is a couple that I did;

You should make more of those! I remember when you posted those a few months ago. I bet you could make a nice profit selling those things

You can use any paint with a high temp. resistance. Metal cast by Dupli Color is a really cool paint, with a high temp. resistance. The Red Metal Cast would look cool. People are against using paints in a spray can, and I don't care for them myself, but what I do is take the paint out and put it into a sprayer. This way you can mix it and get a better coat. Things turn out nice. I'll have to dig out a picture of the covers under my wife's Celica's hood.
I have actually been planning on doing this since i got my car (2 months ago) i went to a few body shops around my house and only 1 out of 3 said they would do it, but said they wont warranty it and cant guarantee that it wont bubble or fade or crack/peel cause of the underhood temps. They wanted $60 to do in Hyper Blue. I didnt ask how many layers or whether there going to primer and clear coat it. Mini Rolls did you paint the "S" too? I thought about doing epoxying a "S" emblem on there but was afraid the glue wouldnt stay. I bought an extra intercooler cover for this project. Mini Rolls im going to send you a PM, maybe you can do one for me.
Yes, the S is painted also and under the clear.
I thought about doing this more but the cost margin is to high, I can intercooler cover for $35.00 and then paint them, but that puts the sale of them @ $100.00 I do not do this to rip people off. I do give some to friends.

Here's a pic of mine, painted with PPG. Instead of sanding off the Castrol logo I painted it thier logo colors (even though I use AmSoil) and painted the S anthricite. I also painted the torque screws red, and while I was at it painted the Strut tower nuts Chili red.
Anybody have problems with the rubber gasket leaving a stain on the paint? I know that some JCW owners are expriencing rubber marks on the silver covers.
I would like to have mine painted silver. But I don't wanna look like a JCW wannabe

For keeping black off the SC cover I put painters tape over the foam gasket. I used the painters tape because it is thin, flexable and not super sticky so it won't damage the gasket if I need to remove it. Plus, it doesn't affect the seal of the gaskert at all. Get the tape with the smooth surface not the cheaper textured version.
After painting definitly put several coats of wax (I use Zaino) on the cover. The best way I found to remove the black ridue before I started using the tape is with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, they really are magic.

About waxing, I was told not to apply wax on fresh paint. About 3-6 month is the norm. But the painters tape and the Magic Eraser sounds like a plan.

! When he was done, he kept saying " See this line right here, this is where the cut off was at for the blending." I kept asking where, and he would point to it. Up until a month ago when I traded the car in, I still couldn't see where that area was.
I just painted mine with hightemp paint. It was a two part paint. It was the best looking stuff I could find. I wish I had a air brush to paint with, but I went with a brush. The first round turned out ok, but I need to go back and sand it to get out some of the brush work. The stuff I used got sticky really fast, so doing the entire thing in one pass was very hard.
I also painted all the caps inside as well, and because they where small they came out REALLY nice. Once I get it touched up, and add the last few 'extras' I have planned I'll post the images. Other issue I had was the brush WILL not come clean. I had to trash it once I was done. If I was to do it again, I would do it in very small area's first and buy lots of brushes. =P
I used THIS stuff. btw.
