Seat 'clicks' into place mid drive...
 

Since I've owned my mini both of my front seats will 'click' into place while im driving. It usually happens after I've adjusted the seat after my wife gets in or vice versa.

Basically the seat will click into place like normal when first adjusting, then sometime later in the ride it will recline what seems like one more notch, or a 1/2 of a notch. Has anyone else had this problem, or know about it? I have yet to go to my dealer yet because it happens in such a random way there is no way I could ever replicate it on the spot :sad:

Yea this has happened to me on occasion. Hasn't happened recently though. Once of I find the right spot to sit in, I try not to change it.

Ditto...I just hope your not noticing what my driver's seat did for a while. You'd sit down and the seat would pop down. The front bolts of the seat were loose and so the seat would drop into place.

Mine clicked too, but it's because the plastic flashing on the bottom of the seat, on the shifter side of the seat hits the metal tube underneath the seat. I raised the seat one more notch, and it doesn't do it now--it clears the tube. That flashing hits the tube with the seat all the way down, as I'd like the seat down where it was. I may dremel it down, or ask my dealer to do it.

Our 04 and 06 do that. I had the dealer check out the 04 several times but they never did fix it. I just try not to worry about it now.

So it's not just me...:sly:
Now, after I move the seat and get back in, I dig my heels into the floor, and try to slide back and forth without touching the handle. I do it about 3 times and quit before anyone sees me and thinks I'm doing something...:eek:

I have it also, but thought it was just my car.

Well, the thing that worries me is that (possibly) in a crash, if the seat hasen't already 'clicked' into it's final resting place it might put undue stress on the seat in some way. Im picturing it as two gears resting on the teeth rather than snugged together, and the 'click' being the gears falling into place.

Perhaps it's nothing, but one thing I don't like to second guess when it comes to safety is my seat.

Fix for seat slippage
 

Had this problem, found the cause, fixed it, good to go.

Cause, the locking mechanism that has two gold colored male tabs that upon letting go of the release handle, the male tabs go into the holes in the seat rail and supposedly locks you seat at your chosen fore and aft position, is loose. This mechanism is fastened to the frame of the seat by two torx screws. These get loose and allow the locking mechanism to move fore and aft a bit.

Remedy, Remove the seat, turn it upside down, you will see this module and the two screws, one on each end that secure the module to the seat frame. Tighten these down (add locktight to the threads if you want), put it all back together.

WARNING, turn the ignition off before you disconnect the yellow wire plug under the seat (this is the airbag wire). Hide the key somewhere until you get the seat back in and the yellow wire reconnected. If you turn on the ignition with the yellow wire disconnected, it will tell you system that your have an AB fault, which needs a special tool to reset... ask me how I know? haha

Mine did it as well and I finally had enough and had my dealer look at it when it was in for servicing. Not sure what they found, but something needed replacing and once fixed it hasn't happened since.
