I was fondly remembering your colored interior that you did yourself.

For those that do not know that is NOT THE DEALER interior.

Jersey did that a long time ago.

As always I love it!!!

DiD,

What are the circles on the dash above the glove box?

Thanks,

Earl

I think it signifies that it is part of the 7 edition. But don't take my word for it. Every time I assume something I am normally wrong.

DID, I was thinking about painting, covering, the plastic behind the speedometer to match the exterior color of my MINI. I think that would look good on yours but use a high gloss black similiar to the piano black. Not that it doesn't look great now.

I just need to figure out how to get it out so it will be a clean look when done.

Just circles. As golden_child said, it's part of the "seven" (aka piano black) dash. Even though MINI calls it the "seven" edition, there are only 6 circles total - 5 silver and one red. They are painted onto the panel.

Until I saw it in person I was a bit unsure about it. Now that i have seen it and lived with it, I like them quite a bit.

Well, we all know a red is worth two silvers

DiD, I really like your "clean" interior. Especially the circle graphics on the passenger airbag facia.

Here's my "busy" interior...again:)

Thanks! I figure at this point everyone just assumes it's a HB dash from the factory.

Got it done at a with a local artist that does work with Overhaulin' and some of the manufacturers. I would guess that there would be quite a few shops in Cali that could do the work for you.

kenchan Dec 14, 2005 05:08 PM

 sid- your car looks like a candy store.

Nothing like a swift buffalo horn to the face = OUCH!

Mine's not very exciting, except that Cordoba/DS is an odd combo....it's also causing me pain as I want sparco buckets in my car - but to make it look right, I'll have to do a retrim.....$$$ :(

And I suppose for you guys,

- the tacho is in the middle (I like this better than your set-up) - it's cool to see the huuuuge needle swinging around..

- the steering wheel is on the correct side of the car..

Here is one of the more unique interiors I have come across, belonging to Carbonium on the MINI2 board. It appeared in this thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105058

nearly the whole interior was changed or better covered using alcantara and carbon fibre look-a-like leather. I am sorry the pictures are that bad...maybe I can make another series and post them here... Things that are still stock-delivered: inside pillars and roof coverage as well as inside rocker panel covers and the covers in the trunk and in the lower area were my feet take place (sorry, don't know the English word for it).

Even seats and rear bench and side-panels are alcantara/leather-covered...

@LordoftheFlies: mine were dark grey before; concerning your question how I did it: I cracked up the welding points on the rear (and there are plenty of them http://www.mini2.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif) demounted them and took the whole bunch to my local painter...I chose hot orange as it seemde to me a quite good contrast to the black II exterior... Now, door-panels lay there, waiting and than: tadaaa, I thought of alcantara, my favourite material (besides carbon fibre http://www.mini2.com/forum/images/ne...es/biggrin.gif) and decided to apply it to the panels before remounting my new orange parts...unfortunately the door-panels didn't fit the rest of the car anymore with the luxurious appearance... From there on, I never stopped modifiying parts...

demounting of the car's interior is done in approximately 1 or 2 hours...not worth talking about http://www.mini2.com/forum/images/newsmilies/smile.gif To apply all the alcantara/leather stuff took nearly 3 weeks full-time working; making templates for pre-cut parts, stripping seating covers (careful, they are glued to the foam!!!), sewing covers and applying them...but anyway, but it has been worth doing it http://www.mini2.com/forum/images/ne...es/biggrin.gif
Sure, you might buy a much more expensive car for the money I spend, but I love it this way...
