I can't believe I did this !!!!!

I bought a Whalen!!! I still can't believe I spent that kind of money on a SHIFT KNOB!!! Somebody tell me I'm going to be all right. When does this madness end?? I had three years between selling my '66 Chevelle and getting my MINI. You'd have thought I'd be cured by now! But no, it's some sort of madness, I think I was born with it! Yes! That's it! But no! Wait! That means......it'll only get worse!!!! :eek2:

But hey, that might not be so bad after all.....Les

10851CS Dec 7, 2005 03:48 PM

Yeah,

I did it too (two times). I bought the second one after getting an Alta short shifter, got one that screwed on instead of an adapter and push on.

When I first heard about people spending $150 for a stinking shift knob, I thought those people had to be insane. . . . . .:nod::nod:

. . . . but after I had the chance to drive a MINI with one, I called Doug Whalen almost the next day. . .:lol::lol:

It is easily my favorite mod ever because I enjoy it with every single shift!

Speaking of balls...........Mine used to swing back and forth when I'd take the turns a little too fast. I finally cured the problem, I removed the shelf in the boot.

BTW, here is my ball:

Wait. The short shift forces you to use screw on knobs?

Does that mean a voodoo knob would fit?!

If I was doing a shortbus one, it would be dope to get a little mini school bus engraved. Or maybe a picture of a mini that has become a small school bus

OBX sticker... - at least it's not on the back of an SUV like usual. You ARE on your way to fulfilling your bandwagon quota. A soccerball and some type of ribbon and you're there

Heheh......we stopped at Hendrick MINI in Charlotte this past summer whilst on our 2500 mile road trip. Met some of the MINI crew, bought some cool MINI stuff (actually Mrs. Moreorless did for me), and they gave me a cool key chain.

The B&M kit uses the stock knob so the Whalen will fit no problem. Doug had said in an older thread that he was looking at or could make an universal fit/set screw type knob to fit other short shift kits. I don't have a Whalen yet (haven't found a way to sneak that one past woman yet) but if you email him he should be able to accomadate you (not a promise, just an observation based on seeing his work and his past thread replies)/

When they figure out a way to put decals/stickers/something on a ragtop THEN I'm gonna be in trouble!!!
