Interior/Exterior Gauge Mod???
Gauge Mod???
Can the Speedo and the RPM gauges be swapped on a car that has the crono pack? I am in the mits of ordering a new mini and would like the extra gauges, but would like them swapped over so I can see how fast I am going

I have no idea if this is possible.
Since the inside of the tach/speedo assembly consists of a large circuit board which covers the entire inside area of the gauge shell and contains all the readouts, indicator LEDs and illumination LEDs, along with the gauge movements in their current positions, I would say that this is an impossible task unless someone wants to reengineer the entire assembly to lay out the pc board to accomodate the swapped gauges.
Now, if the car is ordered with the conventional gauge pack, one might be able to get creative and swap the positions of the tach and speedo by using Australian-spec instruments from MINI. Aussie cars come with the speedo on the steering column and a humongous tach in the dash which is flanked by the temp and fuel gauges. Something about Australian motor vehicle laws that requires the speedometer be in front of the driver.

Ok so the reason why I want to switch the two is because I lose the speed from 50~120 mph. I cannot see that part due to the steering wheel being in the way. The BMW E39's had the same problem with me. However, I could read the tach no problem. The tach is not really really necissary to me, typically you know when to shift. However, it would be nice to know how fast I am going  . This may not make sence to some, but us long torso people know about this problem. So what to do? Eigther I don't get the crono package and leave the speedo in the middle, swap the speedo for the tach (like on the ausi cars) or simply switch the tach position with the speedo position. *shrugs* let me know what I should do :(
