Cobra Seats

Well, I got tired of waiting to come across a set of factory JCW Recaros so I had these made...

Cobra Misano Anniversary heated seats with red double cross-stitching, lumbar support and logo delete. Also, had some additional red cross-stitch Alcantara panels made so that I can reupholster the inner door panels to match.

Original JCW Recaros would have been nice but these were made in the UK to my specifications.

Installed:

Those are pretty sweet!

A few questions:
- Ballpark cost?
- Supplier?
- Weight on those specific models?

Thanks, I am pleased with them. I ordered from GSM Performance Sports Seats out of the UK. Not sure of the weight but they are considerably lighter than the OEM sports seats. A little lighter than my brother's JCW GPII seats. They have a huge selection of other seats as well, such as the generic version of the original JCW Recaros but they are not as customizable as the Cobra seats.

Seats and installed and door panels covered.

Great seats but no help from GSM Performance and sorry to say, I wouldn't recommend them at this point. No instructions provided for the install or wiring of the heated elements. Pretty **** poor customer service with almost total lack of response once the seats had been shipped.

Sad to hear about the experience, but from an outside perspective, the seats look amazing. Love the covered door panels as well. Was that challenging?

Yes, it was a little challenging due to the compound curve and geting the diamonds lined up horizontally. Having my brother with me to lend another set of hands and guidance sure did help. Pretty sure it would have been more difficult without his help. It was worth it in the end as it really ties in the seats with the interior of the car. Gives the seats that factory look if you didn't know better. I have two extra panels that I had Cobra make as spares in case I messed up but ended up not using them. Might use them somewhere else.

That’s very impressive. I really like how you matched the door panel inserts. What did you do to get over the side airbag?

Those look amazing. More importantly, how to the hold you in the drivers seat?

They are not only very comfortable but very well designed and provide excellent support. They are a bit more sporting than the Recaros in my brother’s GP2 which I use as the standard for a sports type hatchback car, although the seats in a Ford Focus RS are a close second. That’s due to the more aggressive bolsters but there is no downside to them. I thought that they might make getting in and out more difficult but really that’s not the case due to their design. They have almost no bolstering near the seat back and what I do when getting in and out is swing my legs around that cut out and the stand up. I am not having to slide over the bolster like I do with other sports type seats. Just overall great compromise between a true race type seat and aggressive sport seat without all of the added weight and complexity of most factory specced seats. Not the lightest seats out there but way lighter than the factory Recaros.
