CravenSpeed Automatic Shift Knob
Just wanted to show off our latest release. We've been asked for this for so long and are very happy to finally have something to show you guys! The design of the automatic version of our shift knob was a bit more involved than the manual version, but I think we came up with a really slick setup for this.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...109a4f8fd3.jpg The shift lock release remains fully functional. Simply lift up on the knob to shift gears. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...ee2b4a7e83.gif Steve has written up a nice blog article if you are interested in a behind the scenes look at the design process: https://www.cravenspeed.com/blog/don...to-shift-knob/ If you're interested in picking one up, you can find one for your car here: https://www.cravenspeed.com/search.p...uct=Shift+Knob The knobs will currently fit all 3rd Gen Automatic MINIs. If it's as successful as we think it will be, we can expand the line-up to previous generations. As usual with the knobs, we offer customizable top caps in varying colors, we can even do custom engravings! https://www.cravenspeed.com/shift-knob-cap/ |
 I have a feeling you'll sell a bunch of them. I've already recommended it to a couple friends.

Looks great, install seems a bit tedious for old-farts. I can see pulling up on the friction fit handle and knocking myself out.
If I ever locate a trusty install source in Portland area, I'll be buying one. |
I know of a place where you can buy one, and get it installed! (hint: it's our shop)

Free, and most definitely. We're open from 8am to 4:00pm M-F best to avoid the lunch hours between 11:30-1:00 as most of us are out.

Two hours later after some food shopping and an easy install by the Cravenspeed team, I have it. Looks pretty cool and works well. Best thing is it gets rid of that lit up gear indicator that annoyed me at night.

I have the JCW shifter in my car, with the metal sleeve that covers the top half above the leather boot. Is the install the same?

I'm considering one. In his video, it shows 2 different tops. Are you guys planning to offer top designs?
It also looks like the height is a lot lower with the Cravenspeed knob. |

The custom designs are really nice. I had them do a top with John Cooper's signature on one for me.

Same as the non-JCW. Actually, if you search Manic Motorheads on YouTube he has a JCW he does an install video on.

My only other issue with the install concerns the removal of the ring at the base of the shifter. I’m the CS instructions and the video online, it’s the ‘18-‘19 version which is just trim. My car is a ‘15, with the driving mode selector in it. Is the removal the same (3 clips)? Aside from disconnecting a wiring harness, is there anything different?

I am n too. I watched a video on You Tube. It seems nobody can answer my question if this one also will fit on a 2017 F54 with auto transmission. I have the ring to set the driving modes. By looking at the video been installed on a F56 that has the same set up as mine I think it would.

My 17 has the ring selector as well, it's the exact same! There is another connector for the ring selector, but the wire is long enough to get in there and unplug it with no issues.

Installed mine just a little while ago! Super easy and only took about 15-20 mins. Unfortunately, I was not careful when removing the factory shift knob and punched myself square
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...36c950d8b.jpeg in the nose when it popped off. Oh well, no real harm and it’s small price fo pay! |
Thank you very much for the quick response will order mine next week.

At the risk of sounding uncouth, I am enjoying playing with my knob! What a difference it makes in the interior of my MINI. Since the caps are interchangeable, I think it would be funny to put a six speed cap on it, just to confuse people.
