removing JCW door sills to reuse them

Has anyone been able to remove the gelcoat JCW door sill trim pieces and not destroy them? I need to remove them to have the skirts painted and don't want to buy them again, if I can.
Would a heat gun be sufficient in loosening the double sided tape? The first thing I noticed was the thing wants to crack like glass. Would the heat help that too?

You will need to be careful and use a heat gun. When you peel them then can bend and crinkle and crease.

There is a gel coat one and the metal checkered one. Gel coat version peels easier. Its a foam double sided tape. You will have to scrape the old stuff off the rocker as it tends to stick. Metal ones tend to crease. 51477406651 and 51710421202

Well, it can be done, but geez, it's a pain. Lots of heat. Lots of patience. And more patience and heat.
I did crack one, but it's tolerable. Now to find some thin double sided sticky tape.

Thats what i used. Its has to be 3M. Dont get the knockoff junk. And watch what you buy on amazon. Sometimes its not the real thing.
