Interior/Exterior OEM Steering Wheel Spacer?

OEM Steering Wheel Spacer?
Does anyone know of a steering wheel spacer that will work with the OEM JCW steering wheel? I would really only like the wheel about 1" closer. The sotck telescoping only gets the wheel so close, and in my seating position, its just not close enough.

Might be a little extreme, but I wonder if one could cut off the hub from a steering column, cut out the core from a steering wheel, and weld them together to fabricate an adapter.

I'm thinking that lopping off the splined hub of the steering wheel and tacking it together with another would be best bet. As long as nobody super short drives the car you will probably be fine. Would love to give this a try but I might be moving soon and cant take on a new modification project now haha. Depending on how far the splined portion of the rack goes through the wheel, you might be able to get away with just throwing some spacers in there also. There aren't huge forces put on the steering wheel, as long as you have at least 3/4 of the splines touching id say you're good (im no engineer haha).
