Uncomfortable Sport Seats in the 05

I have been driving my 05 MC for 3 1/2 weeks now and have 3500 miles on it. I am finding the sport seat to be quite uncomfortable. The form fit portion on the seat is very hard and rubs my legs to the point of being painful. Is this fixable?

I am 6'1', 180 lbs with bird legs and nearly no hind-end so I don't think it is my size, unless the seat is designed for very small people.

Try this lower the seat and move it back.

Motoring over 1,000 miles per WEEK--Yikes! I probably wouldn't be very comfortable in a Lexus covering that many miles per week.

I did that today, and it seemed to help a little, but it still is not as comfortable as the Focus ZX3 sport seat. There seems to be a hard piece poking up in the cushions on both sides.

for what it's worth; the '02-'04 seat bottoms use a firmer foam - yes, you have the new "squishy" seats

Is it odd then that I think my '04 seats are too soft?

They are way too damn wide too though. I can fit between the side bolsters with my arms at my sides. Every roundabout starts with me moving to the appropriate side of the seat...

Hmmm...I've just picked up a MC with sport seats, and I can't say I'm having any problems with the seats, other than that they are the wrong color (but that's another thread). Mine are heated seats, an option that seems to work pretty well, though I'm surprised the heated section, regardless of setting, just covers the small of my back. Very nice though. Do you have the heated sport seats?

It's certainly possible that your seats have something wrong with them. There is no harm in setting up an appointment to have your seats checked. When you finally arrive at the dealer for the appointment, which'll probably take awhile from what I'm finding out through experience, you can sit in other MINI's on the lot with sport seats, and see if they have the same problem for you. I suspect this situation is not normal. If it turns out it is normal, for you, regardless of which MINI you sit in, then I don't know what to tell you. I suppose, in that case, you could use a car seat pad to soften the hardness.

My biggest seating problem with the MINI has more to do with my getting my feet position so that my right heel is sitting on top of the carpeted floor mat heel position. So far, my heel doesn't want to naturally stay on that spot, and I find that frustrating. I wish they'd made the heel position larger, or otherwise located it better. I am about to give up and, in order to save on the frustration of thinking about it, get the rubber floor mats, which are pretty cool anyway, but don't have a built-in heel position.

Good luck with your problem. I hope you get it solved to your satisfaction.

.
I have the rubber floor mats and do not have that problem. I like them and yes, they are cool as well as very functional. Most people that have looked carefully at the interior have commented on them.

I have lowered the seat more and it has helped, that was a good idea. I'm beginning to think it is just me.

Thanks to all for your input.

I, like you, have a padding-challenged frame and found that my sport seat was putting pressure on my left hip causing a pinched nerve. I had to drive for a week sitting on the inside of the seat. I'm impressed with the overall shape of the seat but I'm not going to be able to continue to live with a numb leg. I have a set of Sparcos ready to go in.

I'm happy with everything about my MINI except the seats...way too wide. Are US spec seats wider for typical American XL butts?

Does Bikeguy refer to bicycle or the louder variety?

When I am biking (bicycle) in Europe, I seem to be about the same size as other bikers my age. However I am still a bit larger than the average Peleton rider.
