So Where Do You Keep Your JCW Exhaust Bluetooth Remote? I Mounted Mine

So for those folks that have the JCW Exhaust with the bluetooth remote, I was curious where you keep the remote inside the car? I had been keeping mine in the cup holder but was growing tired of that. So while cleaning the interior a bit today I decide to give this a try.
I took some pieces of 3M Dual Lock, which is basically a rigid plastic velcro, and placed it on the side and rear of the remote. Then I placed the remote in the vacant area to the left of the USB plug in.
I haven't driven the car yet with it installed, but it feels rigid enough.

So where are you keeping your remote?

I found the cup holder to be a very good place to sit the control in.
With the foam spacer has a great place

Yeah, me too, Old school

Only thing is when on longer trips w/ the wife and having coffee in the car, I have to remove it to make space...Not a big deal as that is the exception, and not the rule.

BTW, love your interior color. Our next MINI (a JCW) will have the same seats and dash accents. Niiiice.

Just a question, since yours is a JCW (or so it appears), is the exhaust something you added after the purchase? And if so, is it just the exhaust with no remap of the engine?

I'm guessing the dealer tossed it thinking it was just a packaging piece.

I like the foam in the cup holder, that's pretty slick. If my dual lock doesn't work I will use the foam for sure!

Yes, The JCW Pro exhaust had to be purchased as an accessory. The original was a different material and different sound, nice but not near the Pro. And as far as I know it was not remapped.

W/o the remap was it priced the same as the S version? Also was it installed at the POE or the dealership?

A JCW is going to be my next MINI and it will be fully optioned. My MCS (w/ the JCW tuner) is pretty well optioned, but after owning for a while, there are a few options I wish I had (including your interior).

JC Exec 03-27-2016 10:04 AM

Yes unfortunately they charged me the same amount. I understand that the remap was only if needed.
I would encourage you to order as many options since the beginning. Order them later, becomes more expensive and difficult.

I use the strap on the remote to hang it from the turn signal stalk

It appears that i must have thrown away the original packaging, so even if I wanted to use the foam insert into the cup holder I can't. Oh well.

One day with the dual lock and no issues, I just hope it holds in the heat of July and August.

I designed and built a modified shift knob. This is the first prototype, I have another idea in development. The knob is a little higher than stock with the remote installed in the top.

Nice prototype/concept!

so does anyone have the foam packaging that came with the original packaging? My dual lock gave way today, so I am looking for plan B, and I guess I tossed my original packaging.
I will even buy the packaging from you!

vetsvette 03-30-2016 07:01 PM

Sorry. Using mine. Bound to be someone that's not though.

JC Exec 03-30-2016 07:26 PM

I love that design!
It protects it and you can use the cup holder without worrying !
Way to go !

Wish i didn't throw the foam thingy away ......... :(

Actually, the dealer told me i didn't need it. Not listening to him anymore

TWISTER 04-27-2016 06:08 PM

how about a old school T handle?

bheights 04-27-2016 06:09 PM

Mine is not good looking with all of the velcros but does the job and not get in the way.

Thanks!

Phase 3 is in my skull at the moment - some CAD time will be needed this weekend.

I had not considered taking orders, will need more skull time to optimize manufacturing to be able to sell these for a reasonable price.

Anyone try or think about cutting a hole on the dash panel and have it sit flush?
