F56 Guide - How to swap front grill without removing front bumper

A couple of people have now asked me for a step by step guide on how to swap the front grill on an f56 without removing the bumper as people seem to think this is impossible. I have put together a short video on how to do this, hopefully you find this helpful:

Thanks for this video. Can the trim surrounding the grill be removed like this or does the bumper have to be dropped? I want to try and get the grill surround painted or wrapped in vinyl and really don't want to have the bumper removed to do it.

Tweed,

By doing this, did you see the clips where you could remove the front bumper cover piece that your front license plate attaches to? I am replacing mine and my just follow these steps you have in the video. Thanks for that by the way!

Installed these yesterday on my 2011 R56 and did NOT remove the bumper. I removed front wheels and fender liners a lil more than 1/2 way. Loosened the washer tank to get to the back side on drivers side. Was a piece of cake. Took a lil over 2 hours to do the install taking my time.

Yea they take off the bumper like the R56 also and run that line across , it you can get under the wheel liner in the front and snake under the belly pan, bet you could get it also.

1hr to flash , maybe less due to the 1hr install. Yes, you could drive it. The fogs / lower leds might now work right.

Started with replacing my Cooper grill for a S-grill version with the video in the first post of this topic. Unfortunately, the clips of the "cowling" were fixed with glue or lute. Also at the new S-grill, the clips were melted (it even says Cover 2K on the inside of the part). Because I wasn't able to remove the cowling, the space to reach the clips was very limited.

So I decided that it was much easier to remove the bumper.
I also removed the grill surround and bar for the occasion, because they are going to be wrapped.

I need help with the first 8 clips for the cowl, can't get them uncliped. How do I get them to release, push down on the clip? up? I watched the vid many times but can't seem to figure these clips out. I want to paint the chrome ring and don't want to remove the bumper to do it.

It is hard enough to remove ring with the bumper removed... too many clips.
Some of them need to be pushed up, others down.

Bumper removal is very easy...
